Discussion: With 'Spygate,' Trump Peddles Conspiracy Theories To Change Narrative

Department of Obvious , Call on line one
Sadly the most I hear in the MSM is ā€œUnsubstantiated claimsā€
I settle for nothing less than ā€œFucking bullshit liesā€

SpyGate?

More like LieGateā€¦

What will the history textbooks call it? Trumpgate? Isnā€™t it time for some nationally prominent politicos to start using this term? Fight back, dammit!

Lie-Gate

ā€˜Liegateā€™ And ā€˜Silencegateā€™ Are The Real Issues

Liegate: 3,000 false or misleading claims

Silencegate: The silence of the (congressional) lambs

ā€œItā€™s not spy-gate, only lie-gate.ā€ ~ @RepAdamSchiff

ā€œIf you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.ā€ ~ Joseph Goebbels

NB: Media should stop repeating what the Manchurian Cantaloupe says and begin paraphrasing it with the word ā€œlieā€ or ā€œfalseā€ inserted in the appropriate place. This is not simply a matter of accuracy, although that is certainly appropriate, it is a matter of avoiding the consequences of repetition; the fixing of falsehood in memory.

Please tell me the foil hat, intentionally ignorant people buying this nonsense are in an ever shrinking minority. How can it be that this country is governed by traitors who either believe this stuff or exploit it for personal gain? What parallel universe did I wake up in 2 years ago?!

With ā€˜Spygate,ā€™ Trump Peddles Conspiracy Theories To Change Narrative

Who is the final arbiter of the narrative? It certainly doesnā€™t change it for all of us who oppose him and his administration. Will the MSM comply?

Based on Trumpā€™s record for truth-telling and his legal problems, that would be a dangerously foolish and stupid thing to do.

Muellerā€™s cominā€™ for ya, Donny. And heā€™s gonna grab ya by the pu$$y.

The problem with Trumpā€™s ā€œtheoriesā€, which most honest folk would call fantasies, is that they seem to involve a most unlikely group of conspirators whose interests donā€™t seem to overlap at all.

Another day, another opportunity Dotard uses to take a shit on this country and our constitution.

TPM commenters agree: TPM needs to stop using Trumppā€™s dishonest phrasing on this matter and others.

The quotation marks donā€™t undo the damage ā€“ they just let us know that you know better. Take the next step and stop giving Trumpp free use of space on TPM to spread his phony claim.

EVERYTHING Trump peddles is a LIE . . . Guaranteed!

It may be a minority and it may be shrinking but it is a non-trivial factor in our politics just the same; e.g., 76 percent of Republicans believe Trump tells the truth ā€œmost of the time,ā€

If they didnā€™t reliably vote as a block it might be less of a problem at least on a national level but they do so it is.

In a better world most media headlines and ledes on this subject would be variants of ā€œLie-Gate, the Mango Maniac tells another whopper; there were only foreign agents in the Trump campaign and they were actively assisting it.ā€ But that;s not what we get so we toot what horn(s) we have.

NB: My concern is that the majority responds to constant repetition fairly reliably too: for many it is not a minor effect; it can overwhelm memory; e.g., Misinformation effect, Repetition principle, Repetition increases false recollection in older people

Speaking of spying, an interesting look at the security or lack thereof with cell phones, in light of Donaldā€™s refusal to use a secure one.
