Discussion: Wisconsin GOPer: College Is Waging ‘War On Men’ With Course On Masculinity

I nominate this comment for a FUNNY FLAG!

As a UW-Madison grad in 1973, this is just another example of the more things change…
Steve Nass apparently has decided to channel the late state Sen. Gordy Roseliep, a far right-wing sweet shop owner from Darlington, whose main goal was to continually participate in red-baiting of UW professors. He often talked about how out-of-state agitators (translation: Jewish students from out of state) were riling up the local students against the Vietnam War. Roseliep was beloved by his district much like I imagine the folks in Whitewater feel about Nass. But this is just another politician looking for attention by continually rattling the cages of the most convenient scapegoats available.

More “mansplaining” from some ass hat.

@chuck_voellinger–Sad, but probably true.

When do the book burnings start? Heck, let’s just close all institutes of higher learning…“we don’t need no education” seems to be the new slogan of the GOTP.

Based on the Unpresident’s Sec. of Ed pick - yeah. Might as well close them.

It’s all part of the strategy; keep 'em stupid and voting Republican. Sadly, it seems to be working.

This guy doesn’t have anything better to do than read the UW catalog and be outraged?

@epicurus–“When do the book burnings start?” Safe to say that Fahrenheit 451 won’t be on the reading list at the “new and improved” UW-Madison if Nass has his way.

Bradbury and Orwell are proving to be quite the prophets, aren’t they? Paddy Chayefsky nailed the “corporatization” of the TV networks in 1976, fergawdsakes! And some day, Idiocracy will be treated as a documentary. We do live in “interesting times.”

Republican age 18: Barely graduates high school.
Republican age 19: “College? All that work and expense to listen to a bunch of libtards for 4 years?”
Republican age 20 - death: “It’s the Democrats’ fault I can’t find a job.”

Apparently there’s no one on his staff to tell him that he’s going to look like a jerk when he says this sort of thing. (They’re all sitting back like Jim Halpert, watching the flowering stupidity with a straight face.)

Rethugs new war on We The People … .

Crap. Another war.

Good thing they made it voluntary. I’m too damn busy waging War on Christmas and War on White People and War on Western Civilization and War on American Exceptionalism and War on Capitalism and War on Christian Bakers and War on Pooping-While-Cisgender to take this one on right now. God knows what those rightwing mush heads will be having me war on next.

“…Wisconsin mothers and fathers have done a poor job of raising their boys by trying to instill in them the values and characteristics necessary in becoming a Man.”

Oh yeah, Sen. Nass? There might be something to this course curriculum. My place looks like shit ever since my wife passed away six months ago. I am men-identified and so is my dog. The place reeks of social illness.

By the way, no need to capitalize “Man.” Not a proper noun unless you meant to say “Family of Man”, the pop group of the 60s.

I didn’t know.

I am so sorry.

Or Herbie Mann. The second “n” lends a whiff of bear den to the aura.

In my blue collar Democratic family, it’s “Why should I rack up an infinity of debt just to go to a college I’ll probably drop out of because I can’t afford it after they cut my Stafford loan or whatever?” And it’s hard to argue with that beyond “Uh, you get to go to really good parties and stave off total soul-destroying drudgery for four years?”
