Discussion for article #223220
So it’s not so much she believes in Democratic ideals, it’s that she has a grudge against Jolly.
Oh my, this should be interesting. Bev is nuts. She most certainly will NOT have the backing of the local democratic party, or the state, or the national. Totally bat sh!t crazy, by all accounts. Just check out her Facebook page.
Might want to recheck that last sentence. It’s Beverly Young, not Beverly Jolly.
Whatever works. Democratic ideals at this point equal = not the tea party.
See Boehner’s recent comments.
She is a piece of work, and she is no democrat. There has to be SOMEONE that could run in this district and win. She’s a psycho.
I think they meant that Beverly is happy to run.
Yep, shortly after her husband died I read a long article about him and his family. He was a terrible man and she is quietly likely worse than he was. She should be the Democratic candidate only if we want to lose horribly. There’s mountains and mountains of dirt.

" She should be the Democratic candidate only if we want to lose horribly." – as opposed to not running any candidate?

No matter how bad or crazy she may be, if enough people looked at the wife of a fallen GOP Senator running to uphold his legacy, regardless of the party switch, and voted for her, I’d be much happier to have a crazy Blue (or even Red) Dog Dem Senator, and keep control of the Senate, than have the GOP take both houses.
Democrats seemed at a loss to find a candidate to face Jolly in the future after Alex Sink, who ran against Jolly in the special election for Jolly’s seat, decided not to seek a rematch in November. Now, it seems, they have Beverly Jolly [sic]
Democrats don’t have a Democratic candidate, so they can just vote for another Republican, disguised as a Democrat?
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Why wouldn’t Democrats run another candidate for a seat they only lost by a couple of points last year? There’s no reason to believe it’s Young’s widow or no one else. The dirt on this woman is endless, we’d be fools to run her when there are undoubtedly better candidates out there. Shoot, I’d rather run Sink again.

This is a House seat, not a Senate seat.
Gives new meaning to the term “ringer.”
You go, girl.
yep, personal enmity is always one of the best reasons for wanting to serve one’s constituents
"Democrats don’t have a Democratic candidate…
Because there in no effective organization in the Democratic party, How many can even name Reince Priebus’ democratic equivalent who has done a shitty job for years?
In Florida I’d find some democrat FAST, then tell Bev she would get support from them if she runs as an independent in hopes she splits the vote benefiting the D candidate.
its political malpractice by the dems to have this happen. very strange.
I’m sure by 2016 a Democratic Candidate in FL will come forward. She won’t or at least shouldn’t be unopposed in a primary with this much of a heads up.
Hillary’s coattails will be long in FLA in 2016.
Alex Sink, who was arguably the best known democrat in the state not currently in office (other than Charlie Crist), just lost a very costly special election to Jolly, who is a virtual complete unknown. There was a ton on money poured into both campaigns by out of state super pacs, but this (my district as well) is very “red” when it comes to election US Representatives, especially in the off-year elections. Unless you have millions ready to battle the Koch’s, you’re not going to defeat Jolly this time around.
FWIW, Pinellas County, which comprises most of the congressional district, has voted for Obama in the past two general elections. Being on the ground, I know how difficult it was. But, I also know how difficult it will be to defeat Jolly. Bev Young won’t run, she’s just looking for more media spotlight.
Yeah, I thought I remembered that this was the woman who barred former Gov. Christ from attending her husband’s funeral, and I confirmed that with Google. And found out a whole lot besides. For someone who received an award as a model family man from some Christian organization within a year after his wife divorced him for adultery (with Bev, by whom he had a child while he was still married to his first wife), Bill Young’s family life was a total mess.
