RNC’s defense: “Your Honor, we agree that this horrific turn of events cannot be Mr. Trump’s fault. He is clearly never, ever a loser. However, we contend that it cannot be our fault, either, for the simple reason that we are Republicans and therefore never, ever responsible for anything. We contend that the blame lies with party rules, which seem to have been ordained by god and cannot be changed, and with the voters, many of which, it turns out, are non-white and/or female and/or under 50 years old. We rest our case.”
I think trump’s foray into politics is just another way to rake in millions to himself. He loans money to the campaign expecting to be paid back with interest. He funnels cash to companies he owns to make hats, tshirts and signs the rubes buy at events. See the story about this on CNN’s website.
And that’s just what he said publically.
Trump is going to raid his campaign war chest after losing to pay back loans he’s personally made to his campaign. Before that contributions are paying the light bills at Trump Towers and greens fees at Trump golf courses. Just how much of an increase can Trump generate in campaign contributions when everything he does is such an obvious grift? I listened to NPR this morning and an experienced national election observer stated Trump may structure this run at the Oval Office such that win or lose he actually makes a sizable personal profit on the venture.
I like that. Rickety Old Trump.
That is the whole point. Money drives him…not out of need but to prove to himself his own genius. It’s a symptom of his narcissism disorder.
This has to be skating close to being illegal.
The Koch brothers and their fellow pimps have already made it clear that they will spend whatever it takes to keep their rubber stamps in the House, Senate and especially state legislatures.
Donald “Tiny Hands” Trump, above all, fears being exposed as having a relatively tiny wallet as well. Mark Cuban (a real billionaire) hit him right in the family jewels:
But what about the “disenfranchised voters?” Won’t somebody please thing about the poor “disenfranchised voters?”
While the “Trump is tanking” narrative continues its momentum–his poll numbers are going back up. HuffPost Pollster has him back over 40 percent and only 3 1/2 points back of Hillary. Its trend line also now suggests that the gap that seemed to be opening up last week may have been partly a mirage. Trump looks to be more resilient than the current CW would have it.
It is disingenuous of the GOP to feign shock and surprise over the revelations about Trump’s campaign staff and fundraising. It’s not as if GOP and RNC notables are blocked or prevented from peeking under the curtain at Trump’s operation. He has 30 (or is it 70? I read varying accounts) campaign staff on the ground, and that’s judged insufficient to the point of negligence. No one in the party, traveling about the nation observing rallies and fundraisers and meet & greets with backers ever took note of the dearth of campaign operatives? No one visited Trump’s campaign headquarters and observed what is now described as noticeably spartan staffing? The RNC finds out with the rest of the nation a campaign’s financial state when reports are filed with the FEC at month’s end, and not before? If the head of a mid-level corporate accounting department admitted this much ignorance about the staffing and budget of those working for him/her they’d be canned posthaste. Everyone is slamming Trump for his lame operation. Where the hell was the RNC when all this was going to hell in a handbasket?
The only reason they are “disenfranchised” is because they vote Republican.
I think Paul Krugman answered this about 10 days ago:
In a party of grifters, Trump is the Grifter-in-Chief.
One thing’s for sure: the whining “career politician” canard will never sound the same now that we’ve seen an amateur in action.
The only “core beliefs” the GOP has is who bribed them last.
I don’t undrestand what you mean given that Rump has no war chest. If his grift were smoother, saner and appealing to the general public, I’d agree completely. Bu, as it stands, he’s not taking in any money.
Congrats GOP! Your relentless lowest-common-denominator campaigns over the years have given birth to this 200-lb man-baby/presidential nominee.
You do know that all this incompetence and malfeasance is a feature of your politics, not a bug, right?
