Heat a cast iron skillet with a tablespoon of oil until smoking hot.
Put in an inch-thick ribeye that you’ve seasoned with salt and pepper, and sear well.
Turn it over and do the same with the other side.
Total time, about 4 minutes.
Put the whole thing in a 450 oven for about 3 to 5 more minutes for medium rare.
I’ve cooked ribeye in about the same way, courtesy of Alton Brown recipe, excellent method, but back to the very serious Saturday topic at hand. NYT reported breathlessly that some sure signs of Hillary’s candidacy were these:
She is building stamina through tough new workouts with a personal trainer and yoga. She is talking about how to address income inequality without alienating corporate America. And she is reviewing who’s who in the Democratic Party in Iowa, a crucial early voting state in the presidential cycle.
Ah yes, she has been talking to Wall Street types about Obama’s economic policy. If you were running for president I would think you would get economic advise from other than the folks that brought down the economy. More income inequality, less regulatory activity with perhaps a small saving grace in selection of a SC justice, if she stays away from Wall Street Lawyers.
If a reporter says, “Clinton, who is widely believed to be a 2016 presidential candidate,” fair enough.
If a reporter says, “Clinton, who has yet to declare her candidacy,” that’s also fine.
If a reporter says, “Clinton, who is running for president,” well, that’s really not true by the one standard that matters–but it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
But mark my words, before she declares (in the process most likely becoming one of the earliest-declaring candidates yet, since that’s the way these things are trending) we’ll get “Clinton, who continues to feign ambivalence about her well-known presidential aspirations” and “Clinton, whose perplexing refusal to acknowledge her candidacy has caused tension with her presumptive running mate Elizabeth Warren” and worse.
It is my personal opinion that of the current likely crop of candidates, Hillary Clinton is the only one capable of mounting a winnable campaign against Jeb Bush or Rand Paul
Garlic. Always coat both sides with crushed garlic. I heat the skillet until it’s smoking and then add the steak, either rib-eye or a New York then put in a oven preheated to 500 for two minutes a side.
I’ll flag myself for being off topic but talking up a great steak recipe is far more interesting than talking about Hillary eating a fried steak in Iowa
Hillary Clinton, and Bill, are running a growing enterprise capable of raising funds for causes and conducting national political campaigns. I think having the world believe she’s running for President is enough reason to go.
Good time to get what she wants, regardless of the job description.
“…The problem will be getting a Democratic Party controlled Senate, the outlook for that would be poor in 2016, and perhaps in 2018…”
I think you mean “getting a Democratic Party controlled House”, not “Senate”. 2016 and beyond looks like a lock on a Democratic Party controlled Senate…
