Discussion: Who Will Be 2016's White Working Class Hero?

To me, the thought that Trump is the answer and especially the Batshit crazy Repub Party is just an attempt to create something for interests sake so that there is a horse race or so the whole thing looks like a nail biter.

The white working class, me, or the black or any working class don’t fall for obnoxious, out of touch, billionaire bullshit. I/we aren’t torn, we despise the Romnerd and Trumps of the world and the ones in this class that vote Republican are basically beyond reach.
Going after their vote is an exercise in futility, waste of resources and fruitless. Just go with the liberal/progressive agenda and stay honest to it and they will come. Trying to sucker them into the Party just alienates them even more. I’m not being suckered into the Republican Party with their disingenuous bullshit, not even close. It’s the actual record of accomplishments that matters. All lives do matter, so none should be singled out and all should be catered to, or governed for is a better way to say that.

There are just a lot of people that vote Republican and likely always will be, impressing the masses is the key, not the rabid, half psycho, lunatic fringe that shouldn’t ever be appeased anyway.

All lives do matter, but the phrase is a trigger for the BLM group because Jay Johnson passed himself off as representing BLM in a very public venue, took off his BLM tee shirt, and used that phrase. Johnson has a facebook page entitled “The Original Black Lives Matter”.

As to the article, I look at that as muckraking not oppo. That’s the reputation of the entire Village Voice Media empire and that empire began with the Phoenix New Times. Two gentlemen from that paper were recently awarded $3.5 million from a lawsuit against Sheriff Arpaio. Muckraking is what they do.

The primary season is now in full swing. We have people beating each other to death over the internet.

I’m not really interested in the origins of phrase because it’s much bigger than one guy in a tee shirt. Though there is a wikipedia page on the subject and a quick search doesn’t mention Jay Johnson.

I’m familiar…believe it or not…with the Phoenix New Times and the lawsuit you referenced but I don’t see the relevance.

Admittedly the reaction of BLM activists to the phrase “All Lives Matter” presents a bit of conundrum to politicians who are used to taking a question and then pivoting to something else but I can think of a half dozen ways a wordsmith could address that problem without being dismissive of a huge block of reliably Democratic voters, the easiest being “All Lives Should Matter.” If you think all lives already matter then maybe you’re part of the problem.

Indeed. And doesn’t this issue reflect how truly one dimensional Bernie Sanders is?

I can’t believe you’re engaging in character assassination, with your smiling Bernie Sanders avatar, of a lowly activist who had the temerity to interrupt Bernie while the Waller County DA is attempting to do the same thing to Sandra Bland. That’s the sort of thing I’d expect from a Rand Paul supporter.

I have no intention of trading insults with you.

You have a good day.

Just out of curiosity, which part did you find insulting?
