That’s not why Lee sided with Virginia.
Aha! Now we have a straw man. I say Lee should have been hanged for treason and you claim that I said that “thousands of Southerners should have been put to death for their beliefs.” Unfortunately for you, what I actually said is at the top of this thread so, nope.
So…that’s how they augment his coiffe.
Bingo! I’m quite surprised that the Dotard didn’t say that he prefers Generals who don’t lose a war, in the same manner as what he said about McCain.
White Nationalists. People who claim the right to tell you where to live. Better known as Republican.
The Confederate Nazi American President is good with the Klan showing up with the flag of treason but swastica flying proud chud boys is bad? Oh. Check I get it.
Trump’s Virginia winery is one of the largest in the United States? LOL. What a liar.
I have a question for you. If you believe that the leaders of the rebellion were handled correctly at the end of the war, do you also believe the leaders of Nazi Germany were handled correctly? If yes, then how do you bring those two views into alignment. Both governments were guilty of genocide (the South’s version using perpetual enslavement rather than gas chambers). Both governments went to war for their “beliefs,” resulting in a multitude of American deaths (the Civil War actually killing significantly more Americans than WWII).
Ten Nazis were hanged, with several others committing suicide before they could be executed. Compare modern day Germany and Europe to the USA, in particular the South. I would say that in these two cases, history clearly did not favor leniency.
But that just my opinion. What do you think? Should we not have executed the Nazis?
“I own a house in Charlottesville,” he replied, adding that he had “one of the largest wineries in the United States.” “Does anyone know I own a house in Charlottesville?”
Richard Spencer and other NAZIs probably stayed there for free.
False comparison and flagrant whataboutism.
Explain how it is a false comparison.
I don’t know if he’s going to drop out, but when I saw Biden’s ad I thought - here is a candidate who knows why he’s in the race. Why he had to stand up. He will take trumpism by its horns and brake it. It’s easily broken, btw. But no other candidate seems to care about it. Hint: the people do.
So today’s idiotic response by Trump is tasty.
I’m also amused by variety of comments, including Josh’s, to Biden. We need him in this race if Dems are to matter in 2020. And who know, maybe he is our Reagan? Who incidentally was also a very bad campaigner. And he was old too.
I’m not sure who I’m voting for yet. But Biden energized the entire campaign with one ad. And put that creature in WH in defense mode already. Something none of the candidates did. I cheer today. Thank you Mr. Biden.
Exactly, any candidate that promises to rename military bases that have confederate generals names (Fort Hood, Fort Bragg (not only traitor but lousy general), Fort Lee, Fort Benning, etc) with the names of Union Generals. It’s a shame that there is no military installation in the US honoring winning Uniion generals like Grant, Sherman, Thomas and Rosencranz.
If you can’t see why comparing the aftermath of the American Civil War with the aftermath of Nazi Germany is bogus whataboutism, there is nothing I can say that would help you.
Everybody Knows
-Sigrid
Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That’s how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died
Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long-stem rose
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you’ve been faithful
Ah, give or take a night or two
Everybody knows you’ve been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
Without your…
Fine, I’m a whataboutist. So humor my ignorance with an answer:
Do you think that the leaders of Nazi Germany were treated properly at the end of WWII? If you do, how do you justify that against the way the leaders of the rebellion were treated at the end of the Civil War?
I think Benning - it’s inGeorsia - should be named after Sherman.
Biden is far down my list of preferred candidates, but I’m intrigued by the difference his presence will make in the primaries. I saw something that suggested that his voters would otherwise go to Sanders and Buttigieg, which makes no sense ideologically but seems to suggest the power of race and gender. If he doesn’t take up the front-runner spot, he might allow some other candidates to rise to viability.
We have a deep bench and it is fascinating to speculate on what next month will bring, let alone next year.
What I envision is a synthesis of the best ideas the Dems can produce…adopted by the eventual Nominee.
I was saving the name for a facility one in South Carolina, but Georgia would be OK. There is also opportunity for Sherman’s subalterns, Schofield (army of the Ohio) is taken, but Slocum (Army of Georgia) is available and McPherson (Army of the Tennessee) can be re-used as Fort McPherson in Atlanta was recently closed.
