Discussion: White House Suggests Trump May Not Force Government Shutdown Over Border Wall

Wasn’t it “absolutely” going to happen just yesterday?

What a bloody low rent flea-bitten circus this Presidency is.
Mueller, make it stop!

I wouldn’t celebrate just yet. If history is any guide there is still the possibility that Chuck Schumer will throw Trump a life preserver instead of an anchor…

(And for the record, it was Nancy Pelosi who did all of the ass-handing in that Oval Office meeting…)

You know what’s really hilarious? If he hadn’t insisted on cameras being in the room for his meeting with Chuck and Nancy and Pence’s corpse, there wouldn’t be 73 sound bites of him owning any potential shutdown. Once again, the call is coming from inside the (white) house.

Soooo much winning.

Yeah I guess Schumer was just fucking around when he said again yesterday that Trump doesn’t have the votes.

Because you know what? Doesn’t matter what you think Chuck might do - they don’t have the votes.

You know, a very long prison in south Texas to hold the criminals from the Trump administration could seem like the start of a wall. Just a suggestion.

Soon to be seen on many stations the Orange Moron slinking his way out the door, waving his hands and saying no comment.

buck buck buck BWAAAKKK

Republicans in both chambers have publicly said it’s up to Trump and Senate Democrats to negotiate a deal.

So the leaders of the majority of the branch of government that’s actually supposed to do the action are just going to sit on their hands and do nothing? I expected nothing more, but ok.

I know - they all but begged him not to do that and he insisted on doing it.

It’s not a matter of what I think. It’s a matter of record that Chuck Schumer has a history of bailing out Donald Trump at key moments. From the US embassy moving to Jerusalem, to pulling out of the Iran deal, to rolling back regulations for Wall Street, to one minute calling a Trump “dangerous” and the next minute proudly voting to give him record military and surveillance-state funding, and giving Trump all the Reich Wing judges he can ask for, Schumer is weak and nobody who claims to be a Democrat should fully trust him to do the right thing. He also has a history of this:

In the early hours of Saturday morning, Chuck Schumer revealed that in a 90-minute meeting with Trump on Friday in the Oval Office — which was solely between Schumer, Trump, and their respective chief of staffs — he put funding for the border wall on the table as part of negotiations.

Funny you should mention that. Got a call from my broker late last week to warn me about a lot of capital gains dividends that I have this year. Then he immediately went into the company he works for anticipating a bad year in the market in 2019. Said I may want to sit on the cash from the dividends rather than reinvest them. I think I just may do that.

I bet they think that shuttering the foundation (and I’ll believe that when I see the dissolution papers) will prevent any further investigation of what the foundation’s principals did.

I think that’s what they think too.

I don’t know where the votes would come from because they don’t have them and Chuck Schumer is not the head of the body that controls the money. Nancy is.
