Terrific! Then we can all pay 20 percent more for what we buy. Who will be paying for Trump’s wall? We will.
That will muck up a lot of taxes with other auto companies. Do they not know we require foreign auto makers to have a percentage of product made here or assembled here in the US to avoid those taxes? And will Congress go for it when assembly plants are in many, many districts?
Our Accord was assembled with many American made products from all over Ohio just a few miles from us on Route 33 in Marysville OH. If you drive a Honda HR-V my next door neighbor or his coworkers molded the plastic interior of the doors.
In office less than a week, and going down the tubes already.
Not only unprincipled, but stupid. I suggest that they listen to Robert Reich who has a good bit more experience in such matters. Such a tariff would be a disaster for the U.S., Mexico, probably Canada, and possibly the entire world.
He has never been in a grocery store
He has “People” who go to the grocery store …and undoubtedly wipe his ass too
Before Week 1 is up, we’re in a trade war. Nice work, you fucking piss-stained Man-Baby.
YOU WILL PRY MY AVOCADOS OUT OF MY COLD, DEAD HANDS! Also, my limes.
Ha! Good point.
Thinking about buying a new car? Do it now.
Damn, Corona is already too expensive…
The current crop of Republican politicians are mostly unprincipled. I think there are some with principles but they are out numbered.
Supposedly Mexico is leaving soon.
We get a decent percent of our food from Mexico. When supermarket prices go up everyone will know whose fault it is.
please pardon my stupidity for a sec, but if we charge a 20% tax on imported goods, doesn’t that logically lead to at least a 20% increase on the price of the goods? 20% inflation on goods not made in America, and we don’t make anything here anymore, so shit should get 20% (minimally) more expensive, so is massive consumer inflation in store?
and since my job as an environmental steward is in serious jeopardy, what am I supposed to do when my job goes away, watch robots make goods? Maybe I can get a job making manufacturing robots? I am a geologist after all, manufacturing is right in my wheel house!
I started applying for jobs in New Zealand the other day, if I can’t work here, what’s the point in sticking around for this insanity?
Too early to say if Trump is forcing a complete change in Republican policy positions, but it’s certainly interesting.
While they remain socially backward, they appear to be going from a party that favors free trade, free enterprise, and overall corporate friendly policies to a party that wants trade wars, tariffs on imported goods, closed borders, regulations on pharmaceutical prices, etc.
On tax policy though, he’s a Republican through and through.
From the Farm Journal: "Statistics from the U.S. Department of Agriculture show that Mexico by far is the most important supplier of fresh produce to the U.S., accounting for 69% of U.S. fresh vegetable import value and 37% of U.S. fresh fruit import value in 2012."
Dumbshits.
the price of that Taco Salad is skyrocketing as we speak.
So we pay for the wall we don’t want.
The minute all the plastic crap at Wal-Mart starts costing more, that’s when the revolooshun begins.
