Discussion: White House Rebuffs Issa Subpoena

Do you know what I’d like to do to Karl Rove?

Hint: It ends with no more Karl Rove.

The backfire heard 'round the world.
It’s the same-o same-o, the Repubs will allow themselves to look like total hacks and fools if they can just dig up a little dirt on any Democrat or our Party.
They do complete the first part but never get anywhere with the second.

They think they are distracting everyone from the fact that they don’t do governing, by not governing.
That’s a real winner, Doh!

Every picture of Issa shows him to be pompous, self-absorbed, conceited, condescending, and smug.

In other words—a typical conservative.

I could retire and live in luxury if I had the money this turd has wasted on hearings that go nowhere and reveal nothing. How about removing him from office???

You have a small anger management problem, my friend.

I’m not complaining, though. Just pointing it out. =)

Just another stack of paper to add to the Presidential outhouse…I hope they’re using reams of Angel Soft TP (Koch wipe) to print these frivolous, wasteful, nuisance suits.

I still think this is a mistake. Once again, the democrats have blown a chance to take on the do-nothing Congressional Republicans. I’d just put up a placard enumerating the number of people in Darr-ell;s district that have exhausted their unemployment benefits and keep repeating that neither Darr-ull or anyone else on the committee has any right to question him.

Agree with the intent but Issa’s district, is reliably wealthy, and or retired, CA mil-spec and redneck white.

Yes, Hispanic as well but, not enough to make a difference yet.

What a waste of time and money.

But that sort of approach really falls under local strategy, and the risk of backfire is huge. The whole D approach to Issa has been to treat him as a product of local circumstances and picayune personal corruption; for the WH to act as you suggest risks looking like bullying.

The GWB admin set the standard for dealing with this sort of nonsense: Congress requests WH produce WH political officer either on cause or reasonable suspicion, or even just bullcrap accusation, of Hatch Act violations (in order to fall under Oversight); WH says we’ll be reasonable, let’s chat OTR; Congress says not good enough, based on it actually not being enough, or on principle (hah!), or because Congress was planning all along to say just that; WH declines; Congress issues subpoena; WH refuses; Congress goes thru the necessary votes in committee and plenary session to get subpoena sent to DoJ; DoJ declines, House starts proceedings for whatever, typically for contempt, but theoretically to impeach, House votes to go to Federal District Court, WH challenges, proceedings take time, mid-term elections make process go all BOOM, new Congress comes in with power to revive or ignore prior Congress’ ongoing business, etc.

It happened with the GWB admin political office, Rove included, the WH ran out the clock and the process ended up dying between sessions; it happened with the BHO admin AG Holder in the second Congressional session of O’Bama’s* first term; it’s a well-established highway considering suitable to political kabuki theater by both sides.

[*Both apostrophes are intended; being sick of the racism, I’ve decided to stick with the president’s Irish ancestry for however long it takes until America is no longer racially bigoted against people of color - so, a few months, maybe more, 30 tops.]

That does sound like a non-partisan committee just looking get at the facts. You can tell by the name of the hearing.

“White House Office of Political Affairs: Is Supporting Candidates and Campaign Fund-Raising an Appropriate Use of a Government Office?”

Good work Issa, you lowlife p.o.s.
