Everyone knows that Bush attacked the wrong country killing thousands of innocent people.
On purpose. For political reasons.

The worst presidential act in our history.

ā€œThe pages were withheld from the 838-page report on the orders of President George W. Bush, who said the release could divulge intelligence sources and methods. Still, protecting U.S.-Saudi diplomatic relations also was believed to have been a factor.ā€

Or protecting the Bush-Saud relations is believed to have been a factor. A huge factor. Prince Bandar, the ambassador at the time and long time friend of the Bushā€™s, was invited over to the White House to smoke a cigar on the balcony and watch the Pentagon burn.

His wife is revealed as one of the main funders for the the 9/11 terrorists while they were in the United States.

So yeah, I think its a pretty safe bet that this is a CYA move by the Bushes from the get go.

EDIT TO ADD: and keep in mind, this is a Saudi prince we are talking aboutā€¦the chances of his wife doing ā€œher own thingā€ on this is so remote its not even laughably possible.

And who is surprised by this? Two thirds of the terrorists were Saudi.

The Carlyle Group was the linchpin for keeping the direct association to Saudis and 9/11 viewed through an unfocused lens. A global ā€˜investment groupā€™ that had deep ties to both the Bush family and House of Saud-- it was the vehicle used by both geopolitical and familial interests for war-profiteering during the second Iraq War.

This backgrounder news piece from 2003 is pretty stark-- and quite bold for the time-- in itsā€™ descriptions of the Bush/Saud relationships-- an excerpt:

The connection between the Bush and bin Laden families can also be traced to the collapse of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) in the 1990s. Members of the Anglo Pakistani bankā€™s board of directors included Richard Helms and William Casey, business partners of George Bush senior and former CIA agents. During their time at BCCI both Helms and Casey worked alongside fellow director, Adnan Khasshoggi, who also represented the bin Laden familyā€™s interests in the US.

Does TPM have folks working here on Sundays to update the website?

Unlikely. They can do it from home-- as I am working from home this morning as well.

True.

However, in the modern age of the Conspiracy Industrial Complex, reality also serves as a means to spawn more uncertainty.

ā€¦or canā€™t because of voter suppression.

I just donā€™t see the bulk of those voting for HRC being AA/Latino households pulling down over $50K a year.
It seems though-- that HRC is pulling in the very demographic that Sen Sanders claims isnā€™t votingā€“

ā€“for him.

I watched Rachel that night, didnā€™t see anything usual on the video, but it struck me about Snyder that when the going gets tough the tough go to Europe.

Letā€™s not forget that the Wahhabist Saudi royal family has been funding radical Muslim madrassas all over the world for decades, which, among other things, spew virulent anti-Semitism as part of their teachings. Which makes our cozy relationship with the Saudis particularly ā€œinterestingā€ in light of our long-standing relationship with Israel. Obviously, itā€™s all about oil, and the financial inducements that the oil brings with it.
