Discussion: White House Dismisses Bipartisan DACA Deal From Senate Group

A bipartisan group of senators has struck an initial deal that would shield ā€œDREAMersā€ from deportation in exchange for more money for border security and changes to some immigration programs — but senior White House officials and congressional GOP hardliners made it clear it’s a nonstarter almost as soon as it materialized.

I have an idea for the worthless deadbeats in this country who need to be deported.

While I know he is a racist, it was gut wrenching to see his comments in print. Trump’s comments should be the biggest headline today. The base may be eating this up but they make-up a very small percentage of voters. I completely agree those comments were anti-American and full of hate.

Yes, this looks like the plan is to roll the Dems on this, or claim that the Dems are the ones who killed DACA.

I keep shaking my head at all of this. I can’t believe this horrible human being is the president.

Well so much for that Dumpster talk of signing anything they put on his desk because ā€œthese are smart good peopleā€ā€¦

The proper name for people who came to this country as children and only know America as their home is Americans.

That said, I am really bothered by Tom Cotton’s statement "ā€œOf course there’s no deal,ā€ he said, claiming he’d made ā€œa pretty big offer on my endā€ to let DACA recipients stay in the country and claiming that Democrats ā€œhave not offered anything legitimate in return. That’s not the way negotiations go.ā€

There is nothing Democrats can or should offer to allow Americans to stay in America. Rather someone needs to respond to Mr. Cotton and his supporters that you cannot love America when you hate Americans.

Of course there’s no deal,ā€ [Tom Cotton} said, claiming he’d made ā€œa pretty big offer on my endā€ to let DACA recipients stay in the country.

Is he aware that even among Republicans, there is overwhelming support for letting DACA recipients stay in the country?

Wait a few minutes, maybe the orange narcissist will contradict himself, as he so often does. Maybe they just need to approach him with the idea after he has had his nice warm cheeseburger for the evening.

The White House has no interest in finalizing an agreement until Trump follows his pathology… try and make everyone else look like an ass and he has to come in and save the day.

trumpites are straight out of a novel by Richard Condon, the master of conspiracy theory novels including the best one of all, The Manchurian Candidate and my personal favorite Prizzi’s Honor..

I’d bet that the replies naming Stephen Miller are closer to the truth, but there would be no Miller if Trumpp wasn’t a racist.

Which reminds me. TPM needs to correct the headline:

Tuesday he found a new word, heat, made it his word du jour and told us what he’d do on behalf of Dreamers. But that was Tuesday, today is Thursday.

ā€œI’ll take the heat, I don’t care. I don’t care,ā€ he told lawmakers. ā€œI’ll take all the heat you want to give me, and I’ll take the heat off both the Democrats and the Republicans. My whole life has been heat. I like heat, in a certain way.ā€

Umm, I don’t think the Norwegians are clamoring to live here. Why that would be I can’t imagine (Strong Social Safety Net).

My understanding is that is not true. Trump was a constant problem - ā€œloose cannonā€ was the phrase often used.

They had to edit and write the stories on the show to accommodate what ever he decided to do.

So the White House is a lot like the set of ā€œThe Apprenticeā€, except that the WH staff has to deal with this stuff in real time.

None of us can.

He is the poster boy for mindless white resentment.

He misses the culture of the '50’s but wants all the advances since then in medicine and science as part of his '50’s world. But we can’t pick the ā€˜changes’ we prefer to the ones that make us uncomfortable. Poor poor Donald, still sitting in his high chair throwing oatmeal around.
