Discussion: White House Blames Senate DACA Bill Failure On 'Schumer Democrats'

‘White House blames Dems’ And it will work.

The sad reality that the Dems just can’t seem to come to terms with is most people who do not spend their day perusing TPM and political sites will just see a headline in the MSM that says ‘bill failed to make it out of senate’ and think ‘yea BOTH sides failed to “compromise”, Trump is partly (or even mostly) right’. The fact that the white house lobbied to kill the bill won’t ever reach them. This is the reality the Dems need to face! ‘Good faith’ working with republicans is giving the right wing what it actually wants. ‘Government failure’ it can then blame on ‘both sides’ while at the same time moving their agenda forward.

The DEMS lost here, badly. They will get part of the blame from the non-poltico public and all the blame from the left for surrendering and being weak. Trump and the right wing will get to deport more brown Americans just as they wanted and the MSM will report it as ‘he said she said’. It’s beyond time for the Dems to confront the idea that their normal games of politics just do NOT work anymore!

Run for office- and run FOR something! Don’t just run against Trump. You’ll either be preaching to the choir or confirming, in some people’s minds, that ‘the elites’ are out to get their man.

Get REAL specific, too. You want to run on jobs or healthcare reform or the new landfill? You must have a plan. THEN you can point out the difference between having a plan and promising to work on a plan sometime in the future.

This site, https://www.runforoffice.org/, allows you to enter your ZIP code and see what offices are available to you and the filing window for that office. They also have a few video short-courses on running a campaign. In my state you file for office during a 1-week period in May, just three months from now.

Become a Precinct Committee Officer, sometimes it’s a Ward officer. Meet your neighbors and get out the vote. Find good citizens willing to run for office.

Run for School Board. Make sure Civics is being properly taught. Think a majority of America knows how government works? Just 26% of eligible voters in America voted for Trump, and half of all voters stayed home last November. Today’s 10-year olds will be voting for President in 8 years.

Run for Mayor, City Council, County Commissioner, Borough Assembly. And get on your Planning Commission.

Run for State Legislature or Congress. The next census is in 2020 when we’ll redraw Congressional Districts. Trump is ALREADY trying to rig the census- talk about ‘voter fraud’!

Register people to vote. If you need to help people overcome the GOP-led Voter run around help them do that. This site, https://www.aauw.org/resource/organize-a-voter-registration-drive/, has a how-to on organizing a voter registration drive. Or even sitting outside Wal Mart with a folding chair and a card table.

Civics, civility and civilization all share the same roots. Get crackin’!

Chris Coons and his ilk need to get pissed off and do so on camera when the media types do the “both sides” fandango. The whole thing is maddening. I too am like, “what the actual fuck?” Enough of flying after the whole notion of comity and start fighting like your life depended on it, 'cause it fucking does.

I don’t think that Coons was aiming for comity; rather, I think he was aiming for getting some legislation passed. And it really would have been a benefit to the Rethugs because this just ensured that Dem turnout will be good. Coons can go on national tv foaming at the mouth but that probably won’t get him the votes needed to pass decent, humane legislation. Which is what we need. As far as I’m concerned, the Dems are fighting as hard as is realistically possible with whatever armaments they have. At this point, it doesn’t amount to whole lot.

It’s almost like they need to be reminded that Congress is the third co-equal branch of the government.

Seems like the words “White House Blames” is the signature of this administrations failure to govern.
Still waiting for the orange garbage fire to have his stroke and be reduced to dribbling on himself rather than the country.

I want to personally thank Donald Trump for screwing up the politics of this so badly for himself that even the far left will get that they can’t blame this on the Democrats.

Schumer got bills to the floor of the Senate and proved, once again, that the GOP does not act in good faith. They want to deport, period. The way they have behaved with respect to POCs is that they are trying to make the unthinkable, thinkable and acceptable. This is how the Nazis proceeded. What the Democrats did is put Trump in a position where he had to forcefully state his pro-deportation position or the bill might’ve cleared 60 votes. McConnell and Trump forced the bills to die in the Senate, and McConnell introduced Trump’s poison pill.

Though some on the left, Twitter and Luis Gutierrez will blame the Dems, most voters will understand the reality of Congressional math and the realities of white nationalist politics. Like gun control, the only way this issue changes for the better is if we vote them out. Until then, we have to scrap and try to save as many innocents as possible.

Why to we pay attention, and respond, to these liars?

Foolish virgin.

The far left will always blame Democrats, because that’s what they always do.
Facts do not enter into the equation.

It never ceased to amaze me that the far left is so eager to prove the Horseshoe Theory to be correct.

Being nice and all has its benefits, but I think some steel needs to show. There is no way a minority can get anything decent and humane passed in this senate. If they are too passive, they can erode support for this Nov’s election. I suggest steel, not foam. I wasn’t clear. But too often the questioner needs to be challenged when the question asked is draped in both sider speak.

POS! YOU broke it, you fix it. Period.

Eventually the Democrats may learn that no matter what they do, the Republicans will always lie to them, blame them, and ridicule them.

Then maybe they will start to actually fight the Republicans instead of rolling over and hoping to get their tummies scratched.

Exactly. They do not politic in good faith. Nor does the media reflect that reality. When it is Republican malfeasance, the MSM calls it Washington malfeasance. That needs to change.

What is really important to Chuck Schumer (D-Wall Street):

“He likes us. He likes me, anyway.”

Schumer should publically tell Trump to “Man up” - he started the problem last year by killing DACA and then when a fix was almost in place, HIS White House killed it. And Schumer should also point out that Donald has always been able to fix DACA simply by issuing a new executive order - but he’s not brave enough to do the right thing.

His base likes “manly men” - at every opportunity we should point out just what a sniveling coward he really is.
