I hope the press will give this at least as much attention as Hillary’s e-mails. Seeing as how this is an ACTUAL national security threat. It would probably help if there’s a juicy sex scandal involving one of the people who got a clearance denial reversed…
If there has to be a GoFundMe for patriotic American Tricia Newbold, I’m in.
Maybe we will start hearing from more whistleblowers with a Dem majority in the House - their ability to protect people who come forward will be paramount in whether this is going to happen.
Yes, what we need is a herd of whistleblowers, if for no other reason to provide safety for each other. Susan Collins will struggle for days over whether she’ll write a letter to offer support, otherwise the Party of Treason will demand arrests of these fine people.
Doesn’t matter how you label it. This is the salient aspect of our lives right now. And this is from December of 2017. If anything the disparity has only widened in the intervening months:
From 2013, the share of wealth owned by the 1 percent shot up by nearly three percentage points. Wealth owned by the bottom 90 percent, meanwhile, fell over the same period. Today, the top 1 percent of households own more wealth than the bottom 90 percent combined. That gap, between the ultrawealthy and everyone else, has only become wider in the past several decades.
Financial problems are the one big reason for denials of clearance. No wonder, just about every case of treason since the Rosenbergs has been for money.
Since the janitor has keys to a lot of areas, and works hours when others are not around, that could actually be a plus in continuing her whistle-blowing activities.
So people without security clearance, or rejected security clearance, are possibly handling sensitive, secret material. Possibly involving other American citizens. I bet Glenn Greenwald is going through the roof over this!!

"Chairman Cummings’ investigation is not about restoring integrity to the security clearance process, it is an excuse to go fishing through the personal files of dedicated public servants,” Jordan said.

Subpoenas issued by Democrats are generally followed by sternly-worded letters.
I kid but between DOJ for subpoenas and Senate for impeachment the answer is kinda moot.
We’re not - yet. I’m not in any way going full tilt that we actually will be, but there’s legitimate concern that it could happen and this story could be near the top of the exhibit list regarding the normalizing of this administration and/or the things he has been able to do behind the scenes. Big change happens in degrees, and you could say this started almost 40 years ago, so just because we’re able to post this today doesn’t mean we should let our guard down. As long as we can fight back (eg, flipping the house last year), we’ll be fine, but some pretty important norms and institutions have been undermined and that gives us a structural barrier. Fortunately, it also gives us some insight into what is happening.
