I wish the next Congress would make a priority the federalization of voting procedures, at least for national elections. That would do away with a lot of these shenanigans.

Republicants simply cannot win on a level playing in most states, as most here are suggesting if not saying outright, as is this article.
While the Dems do have a rich history of vote tampering in the big cities, it has largely receded into the past, from my viewpoint.
Now the Repugs have evolved cheating to a new level by:
- changing laws even when it goes against the will of the people at the ballot
box (Florida), - with voter restrictions (Texas et al voter IDs required),
- by purging eligible voters from the roles (Ohio et al),
- by forging signatures on ballots (NC bozos),
- eliminating or moving polling stations to make voting inaccessible (Kansas),
- and gerrymandering (everywhere).
Yes, gerrymandering essentially becomes the equivalent of political apartheid and it often targets minorities (as has been stated before, and as another reader wrote on here).
Voter intimidation surely still exists, and has a rich history that even past Supreme Court Chief Justice Rehnquist engaged in as a younger political operative in Arizona, challenging Latino voters at the polls with constitutional and / or history questions that very few latter day Trump supporters, nor Trump himself, could answer correctly.
Then there is that apathy, for sure. According to what I’ve read over the years it is usually the younger vote. Idealism does not translate to going to the voting booth or mailing in that ballot, does it?
But even with the younger vote, the Repugs throw up all kinds of obstacles, trying to reduce if not eliminate the ability of college students to vote within the district they reside, and how many of them are going to request an absentee ballot back from mom’s and dad’s home address?
And on it goes . . .
What we can do, it seems, is continuously mobilize against the Russian-sponsored orange demon squatting in our White House, and try to soften the cheap, lying rhetoric such as, “There were 3 million illegal votes in California.”

The result of a popular Russian TV talent show - The Voice Kids - has been cancelled after thousands of fraudulent votes were found to have handed victory to a millionaire’s young daughter.
There were complaints after singer Mikella Abramova, aged 10, won with 56.5% of the phone-in vote.
She is the daughter of pop singer Alsou and wealthy businessman Yan Abramov.
State-owned Channel One TV plans to re-run the final on 24 May. It says it is now making its voting technology safer.
Fat Hitler has no say in that matter and if he wants to pressure states to cancel their elections, well, then let the red states do that, we can get 270 without them.
