Discussion: WH Press Secretary: Flynn's Ouster Was 'Based On A Trust Issue'

…and they Trust Putin to make Flynn go away before Chaffetz is forced to do something

"The President got to the point where General Flynn's misleading the vice president and others, or the possibility that he had forgotten critical details of this important conversation, had created a critical mass and an unsustainable situation," Spicer said.

Why do I have the feeling Trump will soon be “forgetting” some of his own recent conversations?

Stating the obvious, but this makes zero sense. They continually omit that the President was mislead by Flynn, plainly suggesting the President was aware of Flynn’s actions. So that being the case, wouldn’t the same trust issue exist between Pence and Trump? I mean, if you were Pence, wouldn’t you be upset that the President knowingly let Flynn lie to you without correcting the record?

"The level of trust between the President and General Flynn had eroded to the point where he felt he had to make a change."

Flynn couldn’t trust Trump to get him safely out of the country

If that be the case … Then look at your own ratings —

The whole administration should just step down … what an ass —

Seriously, he just said that it’s a problem that there was two weeks between when the transition was talking about this and then the Obama Justice Department didn’t say anything until Jan. 26. Trying to deflect this to the Obama administration. So why didn’t they dismiss Flynn on Jan. 27? No due process, but then Trump took immediate and decisive action. Three weeks later, he was immediately decisive. That he didn’t trust Flynn any more. He’s having a hard time with trust and decisiveness.

Holy Balls this statement raises more questions than it answers. First among them should be, what would be so terrible about a simple, “the President has accepted General Flynn’s resignation. Although his greatest contributions may never be widely known, the President would like to thank the General for his many years of service to this great nation?”

Such unlimited classlessness, I continue to be shocked almost twice a day now.

I “trust” this administration will tell us the truth re what Trump knew and when did he know it about Russian election meddling like he knew the Crimea was even part of the Ukraine… not. They won’t and he didn’t. Independent prosecutor time.

“The President was very concerned that General Flynn had misled the vice president and others,”

Just one problem with that, the White House had already been informed of Flynn’s conversations with the Russian Ambassador when Pence told that lie on national television. Trump knew.

Absolutely have to agree with Sean Spicer on this one.

It’s only appropriate that public officials should be asked to resign when their constituency loses trust and confidence in them.

So how soon will we see THIS announcement?

—> “The level of trust between the American People and this President has eroded to the point where the nation as a whole felt it had to make a change.”

Exactly. Why else would Flynn apologize only for misleading Pence?

Trump knew that he had lied to Pence while Pence was swearing Flynn in to office. He had no trouble with it until the IC leaked the truth.

What were the other questionable instances to which the Spicerack referred?

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said on Tuesday that President Donald Trump asked former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to resign from his position.

During several television interviews on Tuesday morning, Kellyanne Conway insisted that it was Michael Flynn’s decision to resign from his role as National Security Adviser.

So, which one’s lying?

This timeline says Yates informed McGahn about Flynn’s conversations after Pence lied on television but I still think Trump was aware of Flynn’s backchannel during the campaign.

eta: Oops. Wrong link. This is the timeline.

If Flynn did nothing wrong and was only doing his job, why did he lie about it?

“The President got to the point where General Flynn’s misleading the vice president and others, or the possibility that he had forgotten critical details of this important conversation, had created a critical mass and an unsustainable situation,” Spicer said. “That’s why the President decided to ask for his resignation and he got it.”

Spicer said that Trump was briefed by White House counsel on Flynn’s actions and concluded that Flynn “did not do anything wrong.”

So, I guess the takeaway here, for all of the other members of Chiselin’ Trump’s administration, is that it’s not wrong to mislead the vice president and others.

Speaking of trust issues:

Jan. 13 — Trump spokesman Sean Spicer says NSA Mike Flynn did not discuss sanctions with the Russian ambassador.

Feb. 14 — Trump spokesman Sean Spicer says Trump* did not ask and did not know Flynn had discussed lifting sanctions for Russian interference in U.S. presidential election.

It would be easy to say that one of these two statements by Spicer isn’t true; but the reality is both statements are likely to be false.

How long before Spicer reverses himself again on Trump’s* Russian connections?
