Discussion: WH Defends Obama From Dem's Suggestion That He Was Sexist To Warren

Not necessarily. The senator is engaged in her work, is making her mark in politics, and can lead the body to the left under a Democratic president. To run for president would be to go up against the HRC juggernaut, a formidable task for any of the few others who have said they’ll will pursue the nomination, Sanders, Webb, et al.

Sen. Brown really knows how to pick his battles doesn’t he?

This doesn’t deserve space on TPM, your slipping Josh.

They can try and they will to make an issue of this…but Obama and Warren are NOT going to kick each other in the ass…no matter how much the GOP wants it to be. They differ on this issue and they both hold to their view passionately. As Mark Knopfler sang “two men say they’re Jesus…one of em must be wrong”…and either Obama or Warren is wrong.

But they aren’t going to handle their difference of opinion like the Oath Keepers and John McCain are going about theirs. So if Joe Scar is craving a fight to watch he should redirect from DC to Arizona…and he’ll get what he wants.

You also realize that he’s called Brown by his first name on several occasions. Obama was pushing back on Warren’s assertion that he’d been lying to the American people. Has he? I don’t know, but you can’t call somebody a liar and not expect pushback.

Well, its way better than W. giving everyone corny nicknames

That is done on purpose to separate her from Bill. I mean, even her PAC is called “ReadyForHillary”. So obviously its something that she is not only okay with, but probably encourages.

When conservatives have disagreements, one side threatens to hang the other side from a tree and calls them un-American and treasonous. Be careful throwing those stones, buddy.

Puh-lease. “Slipping” implies “hasn’t already slipped to the bottom of the well.”

Oh FFS. What a gigantic load of steaming brown whiney-ass left-wing grievance mongering bullshit.

I don’t think calling the Senator a politician is denigrating or discrediting Saint Elizabeth. It’s simply bringing her back down to this mortal plane from the pedestal some on the left like to keep her.

It seems like he’s been trying hard to get to the bottom these past 12 months or so.

Amen. And let’s continue reminding those lost in the winner/loser game that it is indeed about the American people, their hopes, their future and quality of life.

It isn’t just Secretary Clinton…the problem is getting better, though, but it is something that I’ve been aware of for about three decades now. People would refer to female authors by their first name but male authors by their last name, for instance.

If I go back through your comment history, Mr. Heldt, how many times am I going to find you referring to the former Secretary of State as “Hillary?”

I wonder, is that your attempt to denigrate and discredit her?

Hmm…I hadn’t really noticed that. J.K. Rowling for instance is referred to as Rowling a lot more than as J.K. And most male authors are referred to by both names…Stephen King, Dan Brown, James Patterson, etc. But I am a guy and maybe have blinders on to some of that.

I do know that I call Elizabeth Warren, Warren or Senator Warren, but I called Allison Lunderman-Grimes Allison fairly often…because Allison is easier to say and spell than Lunderman-Grimes. (though I did refer to her as Grimes fairly often, too). On the flip side, I tend to call Al Franken Al when I am discussing him and not Franken. And many people on here refer to Harry Reid as just Harry.

So I guess in review, its really more of a situational thing I think, than a gender based thing.

It’s based on whether or not you have a chip on your shoulder.

Funny thing I thought about responding, and the first two names that came to my head were Rowling and King. Weird.

And I’m pretty sure it wasn’t “Lunderman”.

Actually, yes.

He’s trying to do political damage to Obama, in an attempt to weaken him so he won’t have the political capital necessary to pass a bill Brown opposes.

He isn’t actually fighting an anti-sexist battle against first name usage; it’s just classic political mudslinging to dirty Obama up. Even if Obama “wins” the argument, he still gets his suit mussed.

And, as I said, it’s something that’s changing a lot. I think in politics, it’s overly familiar to use the first name if you’re from different branches.

I do think that Brown is overreacting to what Obama said, and honestly, it would be up to Senator Warren to make that point, not him.

No worries
