Every single thing he touches turns to shit.

These GSA people who argued that “raze and rebuild” would be cheaper than “relocate and build” were either born yesterday or have spent their entire lives remodeling outhouses. Good Lord!!

maybe he can turn the whole project over to Jared - he’s got that magic real estate touch.

And apparently every person he touches turns to shit, too.

OT, but something uplifting for a change…

Court throws out N.C. congressional map before election
A three-judge panel ruled that North Carolina’s House districts are so gerrymandered that they violate the Constitution.

the GSA incorrectly said the plan to “raze and rebuild” in D.C. would be cheaper than its original plan of finding space in the suburbs. In fact, the IG report said, “we found that GSA did not include all of the costs in its analysis, and that the [J. Edgar Hoover Building] demolish and rebuild plan would actually be more costly.”

Yep, the President was told by WH Counsel that if the building comes up for sale during his tenure, his company would be barred from bidding. So the Great Orange One will delay.

A President facing multiple investigations from the FBI and DoJ should not be making any decisions about its future. Especially a President who has lashed out at the FBI, probably illegally removed its top leaders, and trusts Putin over his own intelligence services. Sorry but I have no faith in Trump’s decision making capabilities, especially where the FBI is concerned.

That or he doesn’t want another hotel in competition. Or the Russians have already planted super secret directional listening devices in Trump’s hotel pointing at the J. Edgar Hoover building.

Independent of all of Trump’s, uhh, issues with the FBI, is there anything normal about the White House, much less the president getting involved with FBI-GSA facilities planning? Maybe the OMB. But the President of the United States?

Not that abnormal isn’t the new normal…

I hope they name the new building after Robert Mueller III. J Edgar Hoover was an odious character

The FBI gets a great many official visitors for trainings, meetings, etc., so why would he want them using hotels out in the burbs near the new building rather than his hotel, which is steps away from the old building?

Always comes down to dollars in Don the Con’s pocket.

From the article:

The court will appoint a “special master” to draw a remedial map — but it may also give the North Carolina legislature another chance to draw a “constitutionally compliant” plan, pending further submissions later this week. If so, the court gave the legislature a September 17 deadline to enact that plan — just three weeks from now.

Oh boy, let’s hope they give the legislature a chance to redraw. Because that’s always worked out so well the past with other cases where a GOP legislature was given a chance to redraw. Such opportunities usually lead to plans to impeach the judges (alright, they can’t do that one here as these are federal judges) or multiple lawsuits, or, if they actually get to redrawing, they end up with a map that’s just as bad as the first one.

And this is NC, whose legislature is stark raving mad from the effects of mainlining modern conservatism. Ye gods, this ought to be interesting. Indeed, I’m surprised we had to learn of this an article as I’d have expected the weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth coming from the GOP to be audible by ear all over the world.

Lemme guess. Trump or a shell company of his owns the property he wants for the FBI building.

So the White House Counsel’s office caused materially false and misleading information to be supplied to congress. That’s a good start.

The majorities in this congress certainly won’t see a problem with that.
