Discussion: WH Bars Intel Agency From Testifying That Climate Change Is 'Possibly Catastrophic'

That appears to be a bipartisan goal - stifling any talk or debates about climate change - because the donor class has no appetite for that shit.

The earth orbits the sun. Do you want the Democratic candidates for POTUS to debate scientific facts? The earth is getting hotter from human-caused activities. There is no debate about that. There is only acceptance and denial of that fact.

However, i agree that forbidding any debate on the POLICIES that we need to address anthropogenic global warming (AGW) is beyond foolish, and is akin to demanding ignorance of those necessary remedies. The DNC is therefore complicit in the continuation of our problem. IMO.

So the idea is if we ignore it isnā€™t real. Rather like Trumpā€™s baldness and his fatness - hide them, ignore them and they are no longer real.

China is kicking our asses when it comes to changing energy habits. They have put over 400,000 electric buses in use in China compared to three hundred here.

Compared to China, the coal plants in the US are more similar to those of a developing country.
They have come a long way baby:

ā€œChina has now the worldā€™s most advanced and best facilities in the coal-fired power industry,ā€

I have no idea WTF the DNC is thinking, but whatever it is, IMO, it is the equivalent of gross negligence and malpractice. More harm than good.

Fuck reality! Weā€™ll make out own.

What? I want them to discuss the issue that threatens the continuation of life on planet earth.
Their donors would prefer that they donā€™t do that, because being honest about climate change could affect their bottom line.

This is the most deadly form of bipartisanship. Inaction.

And unfortunately it seems as if the DNC is taking that approach as well. I just wrote to ELizabeth Warren asking her to take the lead on this, a true ā€œSista Souljahā€ moment (but not a contrived one like the original) . I can sort of understand the DNC not wanting to hold single issue debates when they are trying to expose the candidates to the widest possible audience, however, the threat to ban those who participate in such a discussion elsewhere is beyond stupid and a self-own worthy of Joe Biden.

Are you sure? You only believe that because the government tells you it is so.

Discussing those facts is not a debate. I think what youā€™re after (me too) is a debate on the policies that will reverse course from our current trajectory. Policies are variables that are subject to debate on which one is best. Facts are not variables that can be debated.

Youā€™ve been suckered in by American Gods. (Great show, btw.)

Never heard of it.

Fantastic depiction of of the gulibilities of Americans that you just alluded to. STARZ Network. Seasons 1 and 2 can be streamed. Highly recommended to everyone here. American history through the very dark POV of the gods Americans create.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I, however, need no tv show to be able to come up with all the possible government conspiraciesā€¦

Iā€™d like to see the language of this supposed ā€œbanā€ on ā€œcandidates who take part in any debates about the climateā€.

Iā€™ll be $100 that this is a gross distortion. The DNC probably has a policy of ā€œexclusivityā€ for candidates debates ā€“ in part as a result of the 2016 debate furor. The problem for the DNC is that if it allows ā€œunsanctionedā€ debates, the front runners can organize their own debates effectively silencing those who are not included.

In other words, there is a policy having NOTHING to do with climate change that does not allow candidates themselves to decide who gets heard in the Democratic primary.

I didnā€™t use the word ā€œfactsā€ in any of my posts, so I am not sure what your point is.

I want the DNC and Democrats to talk about the fucking climate and what the hell we are going to DO about it. NOW.

Is that clear enough?

We KNOW the Republicans suck on the issue. Why waste your breath complaining about people you canā€™t change?

No government in the story of American Gods. All theocratic. All personified. Extraordinary characterizations of the cast. Think of it as ā€œFaithā€ defined by the average Joe. Then that faith becomes real because people believe its real. There is a god for that.

Global warming is a fact. That fact is not debatable.
