Remember, it was the NY FBI branch that leaked the existence of the Weiner Laptop emails to the Republican House Chairs FIRST. That forced Comey’s hand (in his own mind) into making a statement about it to “protect the reputation of the FBI” so it would not be taken out of context and quoted incorrectly by the House Chairs or having them accuse the FBI of “covering up damaging information about Hillary” to the MSM first (which they did anyway and the MSM ran gleefully with it.)
It was naive and stupid and Comey has all but admitted that publicly.
BUT, it was done by the NY FBI office through their buddy Rudy Guilliani, who was hoping to be repaid for it by being appointed the Director of the FBI under Trump (something he has publicly desired for a long time now.)
The NY FBI office has been suspected of being Kompromat by the Russians for over 20 years (going back to when Rudy was the Mayor of NYC) and an internal investigation at the FBI of that office after the 2016 election by the FBI IG seems to have vaporized into nothingness.

Yes, there seems to be quite a shadow of suspicion over the NY FBI operations and their continued close association with the increasingly unhinged and amoral Giuliani. There’s never been proof that the FBI itself is responsible for the presence of HILLARY’S EMAILS!!! on Weiner’s laptop, nor a good explanation of how they got there, but there are too many coincidences there. Maybe we’ll never know.

It is very simple how they got there.
It was NOT Weiner’s laptop! It belonged to his WIFE Huma Mahmood Abedin, who was Hillary’s assistant (and Vice Chair of her 2016 Campaign.)
Since she used Microsoft Outlook, and it by default downloads copies of all emails into a local *.OST (“Offline Store”) file, they were present, but just COPIES of emails that the FBI had already been in possession of for over 3 years (and they KNEW THAT when they LIED about them being “possibly important to the Hillary investigation”.)
Anthony Weiner had created his own email profile (unbeknownst to his estranged wife) on HER COMPUTER so his *.OST file was there too in his Windows Profile.
It has been brought up that the FBI probably overstepped their Search Warrant for the computer by including her email files also as she was NOT under investigation, but, that is water under the bridge now. Damage Done (as intended.)

Ah HAH! That makes sense.
Most versions of the story implied it was Weiner’s laptop, not Huma’s. But then there were lots of unusual cross-claims - backups of Weiner’s files were made to that laptop, Huma said it belonged to their former household (they were separated at that point) but she hadn’t used it for years, lots of Huma’s files were included in the mix, etc. The whole mish-mash of details just didn’t add up, unless you consider the NY FBI branch was out to smear Hillary.

The NY Post headline from a few weeks ago when he was released from prison: Weiner pops out.
Back in 2005 when he was running for mayor I ran into him at a candidate forum. I asked him a question about transit, particularly rail which is my profession. He gave me a perfunctory answer. He also expressed his distain for bike lanes which are now quite useful and popular.
But what struck me as part of his stump speech was his insistence upon applying Jack Welch management methods to government. Basically cutting unprofitable or useless divisions. What does this mean? Fewer fires, cut the fire department? Bizarre. Maybe his pundit card ought to be revoked as well.

He was such a great congressman. I thought it was absolutely sick the way Andrew Breitbart lorded over his resignation from congress press conference after leaking the hacked Instagram messages or whatever it was they did in retaliation for Weiner’s insisting that Clarence Thomas should have disclosed his wife’s employment and income that created appearances of and actual conflicts of interest on dozens of US Supreme Court cases where Thomas had failed to do either. Breitbart was a pig and basically conducted himself like Opie & Anthony during the first Weiner scandal.
I got my start commenting and gleefully throwing mud on Huffington Post, usually the Latino Voices and Sports sections, but general political stuff as well. When Breitbart died, someone posted an article over there trying to make him into some martyred next generational William F. Buckley. A group of us weren’t having it and made our feelings known about his being a low life bottom feeder.
I hope Anthony Weiner can move on to some productive life and personal redemption. Hopefully out of the public eye. It is sort of sick that Rupert Murdoch’s NYC rag, The Post, is the source of this article and will probably continue trying to squeeze whatever marginal political gain they can for the GOP by following Anthony Weiner’s every move.
And, to plagiarize Chevy Chase on the original SNL News desk updates on Generalissimo Francisco Franco, Andrew Breitbart is still dead.

Of course he wasn’t my congressman, but I loved watching him work. He wasn’t afraid of anyone.
Damn it! The man could have been would have been mayor of New York City!

He represented part of Queens, which was good. I dont know if Mayor would have been the best for him. He would have been, in my opinion, a great Congressional leader and maybe a great Senator. Now, I just hope he has some redemption and healing in his family and personal life. He was great on the Health Insurance Cartel, that was the issue where he first caught my attention.
