Discussion: We Need A Heroine: How Much Can We Demand Of Female Role Models?

Discussion for article #230362

Straw woman argument. Where are the men on television who are such good role models? It just makes for good viewing. Like Dynasty showed us how when the rich suffer, they’re no better than the rest of us despite all their gold.

Odd. The one exception to this lament is The Good Wife.

Alicia Florrick, over 5 seasons, goes from being an humiliated wife of an ambitious philandering politician to lowly associate to having an affair with her boss to creating her own law firm to a states attorney candidate.

She’s now on the verge, while still married, of having an affair with another lawyer.

CBS’s The Good Wife is the one show that shows a woman dealing work, family, career, love, romance and wayward men and still holding on to her integrity as an individual.

Is IT eveN pOSSIBLE to Find A wOMAN whO isn’t a VIcTIM or an EMotionaLLy unstabe bUNNY BOILer? DOes SUCh a wOMAN Exist. IS she AVaiLABle? REcently single…

Living vicariously through TV shows is the first problem. Hint, they aren’t real, it’s fictitious, helloooooooo!

If you are looking for a role model and family unit to mimic, look no further than our President and his family. The Obama’s are the shiznit.

I’m pretty sure those two things are mutually exclusive.

I saw Kim Kardashian on television just yesterday talking about her nude photos that were recently taken, and her responsibilities as a “role model.”

I shit you not.

How about a woman who worked for everything she has; one who grew up poor and worked her way out and developed a work ethic that earned her the esteem of her peers and everyone who ever saw her at work; one who perfected her craft to rise to the top by sheer merit?
I mean Viola Davis.

Think of all the dilatants out there wondering if they really should shoot nude and have it posted all over the Internet. Kim has now shown them that no, they shouldn’t… before their third marriage with no further prospects of celebrity on the horizon.
