Might not be so good for this Frelinghuyssen. GOP “Ethics”(cough) people may be looking to make an example out of somebody–who doesn’t take paychecks in rubles.

Not going to happen in Paul Ryan’s House. You start pulling one thread and the whole wig er rug comes undone.

He’s white and male therefore he will keep his job unless it looks like he’s about to lose an election

But Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen is a Repuglican. And everyone knows that Repuglicans don’t have to follow the law, much less ethical rules. That is what makes them repugnant. And besides, he and his party now have a President to model all the best behaviors: Lying, cheating, slandering, groping, leaking secrets, and so forth, including doing everything possible to destroy one’s critics and opponents, especially if they are women.

Plain and simple, slime is slimy.

I dunno–Frelinghuysen’s principle strength as a politician was that, although he was a predictably conservative vote, he wasn’t a scumbag or a fanatic. He was, as Gore Vidal once wrote of Senator John Warner, “as decent as he was dull.” This is scumbag behavior; his reputation will be justifiably scorched.
Without his reputation, he is quite vulnerable.
This also puts his reversal on the despicable AHCA vote in a much harsher light—I’d guess his odds at reelection are, at best, 50/50.

Breaking…Trump, asked Comey to shut down the Flynn investigation. Sounds like it came from a paper trail that Comey left.

To his credit, Chuck Todd read the response from the WH press office prefacing it with take it for what it’s worth, press office doesn’t have much credibility.

Kidding? All the caps were correct. …

The memo was part of a paper trail Mr. Comey created documenting what he perceived as the president’s improper efforts to influence a continuing investigation. An F.B.I. agent’s contemporaneous notes are widely held up in court as credible evidence of conversations.

okay, I think I might be open to start changing my opinion of Comey now.

ETA: (maybe just a little bit)

A government watchdog organization on Tuesday asked the Office of Congressional Ethics to look into whether Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ), the chairman of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, broke ethics rules by exposing a local activist in a letter to her employer.

Please. “Expose”? As if she were an undercover gang leader? What he did is pressure the bank to fire her for having political affiliations that were not aligned with “his agenda” (actual quote). Gigantic world of difference there.

if Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ), had just 1/1000 of an ounce of dignity that his ancestors aspired to have - he would resign for this ethically questionable & morally reprehensible slime-ball - manipulative & underhanded action -

But Rodney was never impaired by ethics - self-absorbed pretentious twit that he is …

It’s New Jersey. At least he didn’t shut down a bridge.

Monkeys, typewriters (whatever those are).
