Silly. Delightfully silly.
Stephen Colbert will go down in history as one of our best political satirists and humorists, but now he’s consigned himself to the mindless sphere of late-night talk shows featuring a parade of dimbulb entertainment figures, athetes, and other assorted vapid “celebrities.”
I’d rather organize my sock drawer.
Maybe he’ll surprise us… one can dream.
Loved the Kick Oxy!! Get Oxy!! To-Do items (will make Rush jealous)…and the copy of Dianetics on his desk.
On the to-do list: “Hire a Show Announcer” - try RobertCMichaels@NYCMail.com (SAG-AFTRA)
I noticed the copy of Dianetics sitting there. I couldn’t help wonder what was up with that?
Also “Harvest organs from clone” on the list
Let’s wait and see shall we, but there’s no way he would have ever been able to turn down a chance to host one of the premier late night talk show. For a comedian like him, this really is the pinnacle of his career.
I really do hope he innovates and surprises everyone, and my guess is that he’s not going to make too many conservatives happy.
I would not judge that until after we see the format, etc.
Let’s not forget that both Stewart and Colbert have/had segments with interview guests, and almost always they were promoting new books and movies. Colbert had less of that actually, his guests were usually better. Stewart at times has some real Hollywood clowns on, but of course the movies and books need to be promoted, that’s part of your contractual obligation. You can tell it gets bad when even Stewart has to generate his fake laugh (he really needs to work on that). At this point it’s still the first one or two segments of Stewart’s show that is the best. And with Colbert it was the same, the intro, the Word, etc.
