Discussion for article #237200

If you did’n;t bother to watch the President’s eulogy, you owe it to yourselves to find it and watch it. Actually the entire service was beautiful as were the eulogies given by his family is worth watching.

That eulogy was heartfelt, dignified, and just profoundly human - qualities we need more of in all of our public servants. Words from the entire ceremony will stay with me.

I am listening to the reaction of others who all agree that the President’s eulogy was one of the most heartfelt he has ever given and he has given some incredible eulogies. Everyone is in agreement that the bond the President and Biden have is unlike any. This was an incredibly beautiful memorial service. I too shall never forget it.

Apparently I’m late to thew party today. Presently on this article Dennis Hastert was the story when I poked on the video expecting to hear Obama’s eulogy. I suppose I can find it on youtube later on. There’s another newer article on TPM purporting to have a video of Obama’s words but that one won’t play either…
But knowing who Obama is I have no doubt whatever that he words were heartfelt and perfect.

I’m saving this to remember when somebody else is in office. I know there will be a time when I need to remember a real president and a real man. I’ll look back then and compare. I’ll compare what was important to Mr Obama and Mr Biden to whoever follows them. Will they be as good? I don’t see how. The values Obama has displayed are what I want in my son and grandson. Just two days ago I saw that spark in Conor, our 6 yr old grandson. He and I were walking away from a pool at he University of Arizona rec. center when a ball landed by the side of the pool where the swimmers couldn’t get to it. Conor’s impulse (unbidden) was to retrieve it and hand it back. With a smile.
I said "Way to go Conor’ He responded “Thanks gampa”.

Amen to that. I say it is highly unlikely we will see another Barack Obama in our lifetime. He is a once in a lifetime.

I hope your grandson continues to show those sparks. We need more of that and if not from our young people then who from.
