Not saying we shouldn’t be optimistic but there’s no way we flip the House. Too many gerrymandered districts guaranteeing R reelection (they have 247 seats the biggest majority in decades) and Democrats only have 187 seats. . The Senate however is looking better every day.

What is the goal of these hearings? Nobody expects TPM readers to be swayed. Republicans already are committed to Trump (despite what current polling may say). I tell you, this can damage Clinton with low information independent voters. “Oh my goodness. She is still having big trouble over the email issue. I don’t know if I can trust her”.
In addition, overall I would say Trump’s message the last few days is much more on target, in terms of his goals. This is not a good July so far.
This is what the GOP has become. They can’t win on the merits of the argument; they can’t win on the efficacy of policy; they can’t win in the voting both unless the districts are gerrymandered and rigged. All they have left is cheating, bigotry, character assassination, pandering, lies and frightening a certain class of voters. For lack of a more technical term, and for the sake of argument, this group of people will be hereinafter referred to as older, anxious, white ignoramuses [OAWIs].
