I’m not buying it. If McCain was still alive and healthy there is no way Graham would give the go-ahead to Trump to take out Sessions. What an oppurtunist piece of shit.
I am listening to the speech tribute, which is very good. Then reading this - said on the same day - the heartfelt tribute becomes a fucking farce, Lindsey.
Mike Barnicle is filling in for Nicolle Wallace today. He showed the clip of a grieving Graham telling his fellow senators that there’s a little of John McCain in “all of us.”
Barnicle mused that there wasn’t much of McCain in Lindsay Graham the last few days.

Eh, cry me a river. No one doubts Graham’s love for his friend but with regards to that other thing…no one believes he’s a replacement for his friend either, or that people will look up to him in the same way they did McCain. He’s fucking delusional if he thinks that.
There’s nothing about Lindsey that’s statesmanlike or willing to buck the system if it doesn’t mean trying to step on someone to get ahead in politics. He’s always been a follower, walking in McCain’s shadow, and hoping something magnanimous and self-sacrificing wore off on him. He’s never been much of a leader. He must think people think highly of him. In truth, I really don’t think they do…coming from both sides of the aisle, which is probably why he’s tacking to the hard right these days. He’s desperate to have someone in his corner now that the mushy middle of the Republican party has disappeared practically altogether.

Graham is one of those people who has to have someone else do his thinking for him.
There was a clear point in time where he significantly shifted within a short period. I was trying to remember the other day when that happened, and it was late in 2017. A little old thread.
Taken together with the fact that (a) as the DMN reported last year he was one of those GOPers tho took Kremlin-linked money, (b) according to him himself his campaign account had been hacked, © he once was one of the most vocal Russia hawks the Kremlin would consider to be their enemy and wants to silence, it’s irresponsible not to speculate he may have gotten a call one early winter night in 2017 that castrated him forever.
