Discussion: Watch Bill Nye, S.E. Cupp Clash In Climate Change Debate On 'Crossfire' (VIDEO)

You want a scare tactic? How about considering the end result of the last time the planet ran the “let’s shoot vast amounts of stored CO2 and aerosols into the air and see what happens!” experiment.

We call the result the Permian Triassic Extinction Event. 90% of aquatic life and 70% of terrestrial vertebrates went extinct. It’s the only time there was ever a mass extinction of insects. It took ten million years(!) for the survivors to evolve into species to fill all the empty niches in the ecosphere.

Nope, the only damn thing she’s got going for her is that she’s a redhead who can tan, but I doubt the carpet matches the drapes.

On one episode of Real Time, she had a crying, hysterical meltdown about how she should be able to have a handgun in NYC. I wanted to come through my TV and slap the taste out of her mouth. Really, she’s one of those conservatives whose mere voice makes me metaphorically stabby.

Reality is a well-known bully.

“Isn’t it a problem when science guys attempt to bully other people?” Cupp asked Nye.

Yes, it is a problem. Scientists are awful at bullying.

“[CNN Crossfire host S.E.] Cupp accused the White House of using ‘scare tactics’ with the American public on climate change….”

Wasn’t it the GOP who pioneered “scare tactics” with that Willie Horton ad back in '88?

[Black-and-white mug shot of Bill Nye; somber narration:]
Scientists not only oppose global warming, they've given interviews.
One was Bill Nye, who appeared on cable television 19 times.
Despite a record of carrying concealed facts and brandishing evidence, he appeared on a talk show, rebutted a guest from the Heritage Foundation, and fled the set.
Scientific data: Bad for talk shows; bad for America.
[Rapid narration at half volume:] Paid for by the Committee to Convince You That Black Is White, Up Is Down, and War Is Peace.

Can’t argue with that. The facts are suppressing our ability to make sense and it’s not fair.

You wanna know what word is used too much. “Bully”.

If you watch old school TV shows, they used to teach us to stand up to bullies. Now people commit suicide to deal with bullies.

Let’s see… if I want to know something about science, do I ask a ballet dancer who studied religion and art history or do I ask someone known as The Science Guy?

This is not a trick question.

Maybe there’s hope. I recall going back maybe 25 (?) years and some of my GOP friends and neighbors telling me that, yes, they’re beginning to think that global warming is real, but we can’t predict the results of that warming. Now, mind you, this was from a position of denial that it even existed.
Maybe now with some of these alarming reports over the last few days, they might move a few more into the believers column.
A few more reports of crop failures, bee deaths, etc, just might scare a few.
Who knows? Da Shadow do.

But whenever anyone has tried to introduce legislation regarding bullies, the right wing has shot them down. I guess there are one-sided bullies?

(The claim is ridiculous. The climate change report will make an impact, since it details what all of us are currently experiencing, with weirder and weirder weather patterns, more extreme weather, and fewer days when we can breathe the air freely.)

American Farm Bureau predicted record high prices for beef and pork this summer. Why? Droughts in 2011 and 2012 has resulted in liquidation of herds because of feed shortages. Pork shortage growing because of a virus has been reintroduced into the U.S. Yep, we don’t want to listen to those science guys. What do they know? Wonder if people might change their mind when a burger costs $10.

Yeah, that Bill Nye is such a bully! He majored in Mechanical Engineering for Thugs at Cornell (aka “Bully U”), forced his way to a job at Boeing, and has terrorized children for years with his Science Guy, I mean Tyrant Guy, persona. Why, he even threatened the band Mudhoney with certain death if they didn’t agree to perform his theme song.

Kudos to S.E. “Half Empty” Cupp for having the courage to stand up to such a malevolent bully!

Cupp is just another silly right wing tool.
One needn’t even comment on the Heritage Foundation

Not to mention her basic premise is flawed; it is working with the public, that’s why she and her ilk have to keep flogging their dead-end arguments.

Sippie Cup would consider it bullying for pointing out that latrines should be build down stream from where you draw your drinking water… because science!

All ignorant, really seriously, by choice, stupid people think scientists are bullies because they insist on dealing in objective reality.
