Discussion: Wasserman Schultz: Rubio Folded Like 'House of Cards' on Immigration

That’s just not true. You can also profess to hate black people, and Muslims and gays of any color. And libruls.

Did WS just go Frank Underwood on Sen. Rubio?

Rubio

aka Marco H20

the water boy for the GOTP

What is it with these politicians who seem to believe that they have a direct route straight to the Presidency with barely any actual experience? Rubio has been on the scene for, what, 2 years? What makes him think that he’s in any way remotely qualified for high office?

Same goes for Ted Cruz. These guys don’t stand a chance.

It’s OK if Rubio can’t stand the heat; the GOP has their backup would-be candidate in Rafael Cruz.

Lack of experience didn’t keep President Obama from both getting and doing a fine job for the last 6 years. Let’s be fair here, Rubio was speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. That’s not “barely any actual experience.” As for Cruz, he clerked for Supreme Court, was the Attorney General of Texas and an attorney at a large law firm. They both have the same experience in the Senate and in national politics that Obama had when he decided to run. Now they’re both clearly not the same caliber of politician/orator as Obama, but let’s not pretend these guys are noobs

Completely OT, but I’m so happy that your unfamiliarity with the word sent me to confirm my suspicion of its “New World” origins – and indeed, it derives from the name of a small coin used in the Spanish-colonial Americas. I love this stuff…

All right, carry on.

I absolutely agree with every word. Rubio isn’t on the grift here. He thinks he genuinely has a shot at getting the nomination or being picked for VP. Truthfully, he probably does have a better shot at the VP nod than most in the field.

Rubio’s also got another problem that I’ve suspected for awhile. His internal numbers must be telling him that his chances of holding his seat next year just aren’t looking very good. Opting out of seeking a second term allows him to save face much the way Romney did when he chose not to seek a second term as MA governor. Whether or not he’s chosen for Veep, he can go on to head some board or be a lobbyist and maybe a Republican kingmaker out on the stump. In four or eight years he can come back on the scene and try to run again. He can say he stepped away from politics and worked in the “real world” and is now uniquely qualified to address whatever ill is facing America at the time.

Marco Rubio knows that if he gets elected President he will be told what to do every step of the way. He will not need to think, so any ability to stand up to pressure will be irrelevant. He wants to be POTUS because he’ll get to live in a really cool house and have his ass kissed on a daily basis. Daddy Bush was the last Repub President to actually govern, albeit badly.

Isn’t he Veep material in a race begging for Hispanic faces?

That’s right, Congresswoman. Forget the water bottles. Give him a baby bottle and burp him before putting his campaign to bed.

I can’t. I’m Israeli, living in the US. Sadly, I was born in America (Not as if I had a choice)
But I consider myself Israeli, and so does US Election law.
Lawyers galore are STILL trying to get my citizenship sorted, after two and a half years.

“how will he hack the presidency?”

At least Rubio brought up a bill. All you get with Rand Paul is plagiarized Wikipedia.

I don’t think DWS is really the best choice to be doing a Smugface routine.

Gulp!

Guy is obviously a drink of water. Even when I put on my Republican hat, it’s hard to see his appeal. The GOP just doesn’t “do young” well. GWB was an “old man” in young man’s clothing. When you’re President, you have to be able to talk and drink water at the same time. Obviously, he can’t do that, nor is he good at covering up that fact.

The reason Rubio will never be a serious candidate for President is that he did fold like a “house of cards” on immigration. If he had stood tall and taken some heat he would have gained some measure of respect from lots and lots of people on both sides of the aisle. He didn’t on an issue that should have been important to him. Clearly Rubio isn’t much of a man and isn’t going anywhere. Who would follow him anyway?

Good luck with that. The process can be very trying.

Who cares, W-Schultz? You should have been fired as the DNC’s chairwoman MONTHS ago. You have been an absolute disaster as chairwoman. No member of Congress should have that full-time job.
