Friday marks the one-year anniversary of President Donald Trump taking the oath of office …
… and Saturday will mark the day many will march to remember. And everyone will be wearing commemorative hats!

Why don’t we wait until the money starts pouring in from the tax cut and pay for the wall out of that? They said that it would pay for itself and then some. Should be plenty of money.
Friday marks the one-year anniversary
Grrr.
And heartlessly adding insult to injury:
Friday marks the one-year anniversary
Double-grrr.
It should be known as shit week anyway, seeing as how the Dumpster will mark one year in office. What a disgusting thought that is!
Are you by any chance interested in the post of DNC chair?
Since my employer pays about 80% of my insurance premium, I’d be underwater pretty fast if I had to pick up that share. My heart goes out to those poor people. So - do congresscritters also pick up the employer’s share of their premiums?
Then each and every Trump appointee, WH adviser to the President, the VP & P, and all registered Republicans across this great land should have to sign the promissory note that they will pay for Trump great big beautiful wall. And no Wimpy outs.
No idea. I’d guess not. They’re “special” after all.
REPUBLICANS DO NOT NEED THE VOTES OF DEMOCRATS! They can change the Senate rules at any time. Republicans, first and foremost, are liars of necessity. Their policies and ideas are so universally bad, that neither a third of Americans nor even a majority of Republican Senators, supports the policies in question.
If Rump wants the government to shut down, and Republicans want the government to shut down, then it will.

Earlier I was labeled an “optimist” for thinking Trump might pack it in already last summer and thus preserve some of his legacy and companies. Instead, he seems to think that sticking it out like in Watergate, which resulted in 40 convictions and something like 28 people doing prison time, is preferable. Money-laundering is charged by each instance, so he potentially could be looking at huge fines and prison time in excess of 10 years. Then there are the other problems like tax evasion, obstruction of justice, conspiracy and (distantly) election fraud. Bannon has mentioned treason, but that applies to his son and Jared, I believe. Kelly has also been feeding his racist tendencies, so there could be some civil rights violation implicated down the line. It’s like Trump sees himself as a plantation owner.
When I first glanced at the headline, I thought it said that Trump was a good clown.
(Which, of course, he is not. He is a very bad clown.)
Why would trump care of the government shuts down? Just more drowning it in the bathtub and all that. Is that why he calls it a good shut down? Probably so.
I should be on a plane to Florida today, but no…decided not to spend the whole day & night in Atlanta. Try again in the morning.
it sucks here. Sorry.
No biggy. And I love the Atlanta airport, I’ve always had good experiences there and I’ve flown through it many, many times over the years. My flight had several delays out of Louisville and the woman at the Delta desk told me that there was very good chance I’d get stuck in ATL for the night and there are no hotel room left. So I’m the first flight out in the am. Totally worth it to change and not have a crappy day.
.
You’re making an assumption that the Corporate Controlled Conservative Press will turn on Tweetler.
They won’t.
They’ll continue trashing the Democrats.
Meanwhile I’m going to be one of those Federal Employees required to work AND NOT GET PAID!
No. Congress still gets paid during a shutdown, UNLIKE “ESSENTIAL” FEDERAL WORKERS WHO WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK AND NOT GET PAID!
I have this dream. We would raise the greatest and most powerful army seen on earth. It would be comprised of CPAs and Cost Accountants, sent into battle with the books. They can hit the beach heads of military spending.
I suspect savings in Defense would easily cover a good health care program on a national basis. I believe in a strong military, but it is a goldmine for the grifters. The F-35 program illustrates that well.
Actually I’m speaking from three decades of direct experience that allow me to be absolutely certain. So I’m sorry if there’s a shutdown and you have to work without being paid, but I really have to disagree.
It will be a deal unlike any deal you’ve ever seen before! (and hopefully never see again!)
