Trump Sounded Like ‘Two-Bit Dictator’

Trump: Mission accomplished. Even Pocahontas got it.

“Every time you kind of scratch the surface a little bit and see what Donald Trump is really talking about, what he’s really talking about is what he’s talked about all his life and that is how to improve the world for Donald Trump,” Warren said in response to Trump’s marathon 75-minute speech.

Thank you, Senator Warren! This also describes almost every single Republican alive today.

She exactly right. Again, the headlines across the board said it all:

Garry Kasparov: Sounded Straight Out Of Russia…

David Duke: ‘Couldn’t Have Said It Better!’…

Speech Riddled With Inaccuracies…

Andrew Sullivan: ‘Massive Lies And Distortions, Crammed With Incoherence’…

I don’t know what a Vice-President nominee is supposed to do for the Prez nom. Excite the base? Calm the base? Provide geographic balance? Lock in a toss-up state? Cover for deficiencies of the candidate at the top of the ticket? Pay back a constiuency, mollify a group feeling left out or left behind in the race?
I can’t pretend to know what Clinton needs or will do. But a staid, old hand like Kaine doesn’t light any fires for me. Hillary is pretty tame, and undeniably an old hand, establishment to the core. She lawyered for the Watergate committee. I hope she injects some enthusiasm into the ticket with her pick, but signs seem to point to a conservative, safe pick. Like Kaine. My opinion that’ll represent a lost opportunity, a missed chance to bring younger, more left leaning Sanders type voters aboard. Does she really need a traditional, safe politician to attract the same voters she likely already appeals to?

Not only a two-bit dictator, but a completely unhinged one. The man has lost whatever emotional equilibrium he ever had.

I watched part of it. When his (un)natural orange glow became fluorescent and he started shouting about “Amerika Götterdämmerung!” I had to shut it off.

Besides, the virus checker on my computer started with a shouty klaxon. I can’t imagine why.

Maybe tip the balance in Virginia and North Carolina? That’s all I’ve got-

I suspect Cleveland will come to be known as Nuremberg on the Cuyahoga.

The VP pick generally does not help a presidential candidate, it can only avoid hurting. All the good stuff Warren can do, she can do as a Senator, as she is now.

Tim Kaine was a good governor for Virginia. He’s also been a good U.S. Senator for us. He’s solid Democrat and fairly progressive on most social issues. He is personally pro-life, but does not believe in legislating that way – he understands the personal liberties involved. I don’t say this as as Virginian, I say this as an American: I’d be fine with Sen. Tim Kaine as Hillary’s V.P. I honestly believe he’s a good, smart, compassionate man with a strong working knowledge of today’s world affairs to take over should the need arise.

Yep, started out bad and got worse.

2-Bit is about 1 1/2 bits too many.

Strongly agree. Warren is superb and needed in the Senate. And if she were to be chosen as VP, her Senate vacancy would likely be filled by a Republican. Can’t take that chance now with too much at stake.

It won’t have any effect in North Carolina, unless Kaine is some kind of miracle campaigner. We really don’t care much one way or the other about Virginia politics (or South Carolina or Georgia or Tennessee politics, for that matter).

If they’re going to choose Kaine, I hope they’ve got some kind of polling that says he attracts the Reagan Democrat demographic—and that Warren’s campaigning will be so energetic that all the other demographics forget about the vice-presidential nominee entirely.

I hear you. No argument on the merits. I guess I was still hoping for Elizabeth Warren- it does seem to me she’d be better in a brawl.

She’s better in the Senate—and she’ll be a first-rate brawler throughout the campaign.

Kaine is stronger than you think as a VP choice, although I prefer Castro or Becerra or even Perez.

of the things that happened on the Colbert show last night, this was certainly the more political, but do yourself a favor and watch the Jon Stewart bit. F’n hysterical.
