The WaPo comes up with a story like this because there is NOTHING happening to report on. Rather than have no news, they put out a story that actually helps give Trump some cover. Of course, the subtext is that Trump officials warned Flynn that he might get caught.
The slow rolling of this investigation is looking an awful lot like investigations of the Bush administration after the Iraq war. The effect was dissipated over time, and a no hard conclusion were ever reached. They ran down a “Scooter” with the bus, but that was about it. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowiitz all walked. It could also mean that all relevant agencies are putting together a complete case in secrecy, and I hope so. But as you can tell, I am not optimistic.

I always thought Obama failed miserably when it came time to hold financial executives accountable, which had the side benefit of providing warnings to the white folk. Heh, heh.

I would say that Bush was saved because of Cheney, who knew the ins and outs of D.C., politically and in the government. Nobody in the Trump White House has the same facility in the dark arts. In fact, quite obviously, nobody in the White House knows how to keep a secret.

In my experience as a “white hat” hacker, I can say that, at least initially, it was free-lance hackers who got material, which was then offered for sale to others (state actors, etc.) and likely not Russia, at least, initially. Any information has a price. Russia likely “bought” the information, verifying it by doing a little of their own hacking.

What may save Trump is the inertia in Washington and law enforcement to exposing and prosecuting such massive and unprecedented crimes. The implications of an entire administration being in cahoots with the Russians are just too boggling, and lead us into such uncharted waters that it is better to blunt, delay and deflect the outcome. It is better to try and pretend it never happened, or isolate culpability to a few scapegoats… This is what happened when an administration orchestrated a massive propaganda campaign, lied, cooked intelligence, coerced the CIA, and violated the Geneva Conventions to start a war with Iraq. No one of any importance went to jail.

Michael Flynn is the scapegoat and the fall guy for Trump, Pence and Ryan. I think that Flynn was working at the behest of Preshitent Trump, Supreme Commander Cuck Kushner and First Lady (Washington DC) Ivank Trump who were recruited by Putin and the FSB many years prior to 2016 to launch their hate-filled racist bigoted attacks on President Obama in exchange for money laundering business, lucrative deals with Iranian Republican Guard, free pee-hooker service for the Trump family in hotel rooms in Moscow, Baku and elsewhere in Europe and Asia. I think that Mike Pence was recruited after Putin admired his homophobic christian bigot hate law in Indiana and Paul Ryan was recruited a few months after after Trump, Cuck, Pence.
