Why? As they say ‘he’s just like us’!
Best part is that Bezos could lose Trump’s bank in a game of craps and not lose sleep.
I’ve been amazed how far and how early in the seasonTrump’s negatives have sunk into the minds of the normally unconcerned. Like his rise, this deeper awareness by the masses, too, can be attributed to his decades on prime time network entertainment TV.
No matter Trump staff or GOP efforts, this double-edged fame will be magnified by the convention’s success and/or failure…
The accepted wisdom is that some time soon after Labor Day people start turning to thoughts of the election, and that’s when consciousness raising begins. I can hear it now, “What!, the Celebrity Apprentice guy is running for president and he’s a fraud and a chisler?” It’ll be news to many people, but even right now polling and such suggest that people are saying he’s not qualified but Clinton is very much so…
@mattinpa I always keep in mind that the despicable Cruz was elected senator by 600,000 votes (out of a population of 29 million) in an election that was a bizarre series of events and timing that came together in his favor.
Glad you do.
People like him don’t donate money to charities. It’s not even on his radar.
Most people just don’t put enough thought and effort into it to be considered adequate at this self-government stuff.
Just consider the fact that the internet is littered with millions of “Fail” videos of every description, but all with one consistent attribute: a sizeable percentage of humanity is stupid beyond belief.
Even the $2.8 million number is absolutely tiny, though. He claims he’s worth $10B, so that means he’s given .028% of his net worth to charity (over 15 years!). For us mere mortals, say we’ve saved up pretty well and have a net worth of a million dollars, it’d be the equivalent of giving $280. Or $19 per year.
I’m worth way less than a million bucks, but I’m also giving way more than $19 a year to charity!
“Things Could Not Get Worse”
Somehow that’s the one that gets me the most–the utter and complete ignorance involved in imagining that our current situation in this country is as bad as it could possibly get.
At the time, Trump called reporter David Farenholdt, who also conducted the most recent investigation into Trump’s history of charitable giving, a “nasty guy” for following up.
“Never pick a fight with people who buy ink by the barrel.”

Mark Twain – smarter than the average Republican.
My brother an ex-tigre from the Barrio. And he never went beyond the eighth grade. But he has a good heart and a lot of insight. We both like watching spy thrillers and WWII documentaries.
I believe that the thing that my brother, myself and you all have in common is an ability to self-criticize. And it just seems to me that the authoritarianism, hatred and willful ignorance is something that I–as a son of a survivor of WWII combat–thought I had seen the last of, as a Boomer.
By the way…some of the hustles that my brother knew about tricked marks who were, essentially, bereft of introspection and compassion themselves
Heh heh, I’d even settle for the 40.5% that Mondale got in 1984!
Well, we know he vastly inflates his charitable donations. We also know he vastly inflates his wealth, by characterizing gross revenues as assets, by including the gross value of properties even where he only licensed the use of his name but has no ownership interest, and by assigning ludicrous values to intangible assets. It still would not surprise me at all if it turns out that if one excludes the vastly inflated value he assigns to intangible assets like his “brand” and his “goodwill” ludicrously above and beyond what they actually produce in tangible assets, that this con-man actually has a negative net value – that at any given time, the actual value of his tangible assets is less than the amount of debt secured by those assets. He’s a flim-flam man.
So basically you can assume that Donald “the draft dodging coward” Trump has lied about his “YUGE” charitable contributions, just like he lied when he tried to steal a million dollars from Veterans.
What a lowlife loser. After the election, hopefully the government will press as many fraud charges as possible, just so DT can spend some quality time at Rikers Island.
Except that one of the key premises of his “reality” show was that the teams of C-level “celebrities” would compete in staged events with a donation to charity as the prize. Either NBC made those donations directly or Trump’s foundation was supposed to make the donation (I don’t know, didn’t watch) which either did or didn’t happen.
So, donations aren’t strictly “voluntary” if he did charitable fundraising but failed to actually donate the proceeds to the charities in question. That’s the bigger question, IMHO.
Charitghazi…
This is the “reality” tv star playing the part. Has no clue in his reality interface. His kids are the executive shadow committee in Donnie’s campaign.
Yes, the sh*t circus is coming to Cleveland.
I don’t think this is a Trump/Bezos slap fight. I think this is Marty Baron punting Trump’s balls so hard that his eyes turn into little cartoon ‘Tilt’ signs. And God bless him for it.
I am worried about what things will look like later in the New Gilded Age when Bezos and Peter Thiel butt heads.
The GOP candidate’s refusal to release his tax returns means that the millions in charitable cash gifts that Trump and his staff say have been paid out can’t be confirmed.
It can be confirmed that he never made those donations.
LOOK LIBtards, YOU DOn’t BEcomE A teN BILLIONAire bY GIVING your MONEY away
Damn. It doesn’t look good for Trump when Eustace’s explanation actually makes more sense than his. And is phrased more politely.
