A smarter Republican would have stayed in, as Congress had already scuttled the regulations necessary to even keep us within 3-4 degrees Celsius. Then we could have operated within the framework the same way Malta and the Vatican do with regards to women’s health and family planning at the UN. That’s what Exxon Tillerson wanted.
But Trump has to get attention and rack up “wins”.

By the revolution of 1830 Lafayette’s attention-getting ways and reputation were used by the conservative Orleanists to entrench themselves and accomplish their own policy goals. And once his usefulness had run out he was quietly shunted aside.

Trump seems to frequently confuse the terms ‘win’ and ‘own goal’. I suspect it’s a consequence of his clearly evident and on-going mental deterioration.

Nunes and Flynn have a long history together. It was likely Flynn directing Nunes to get intel during the campaign so that Flynn could pass it off as his “get” to appear more valuable. Giuliani did the same thing with his old FBI contacts. Flynn was also probably trying to determine how close the IC was to finding out about his own rackets.

As the steady drip, drip, drip of Comrade Trump connections to Russia are revealed, the GOPP (Grand Old Putin Party) wants Americans to focus on unmasking – not because it is necessarily a bad thing, but because it sounds bad. The information, masked or unmasked, remains classified. What needs to be “unmasked” is GOP putting party before country.
