Discussion: Waaaa! After VP Debate, GOPers Weep That Pence Isn't The Top Of The Ticket

Pence is a better spoken politician and a conservative. However, he is a monster in his own right. Just a better spoken one. And the VP is not really going to affect the rest of the ticket. Other than making many wish that he were on top. It would probably be closer if he was. Particularly with the GOP base not really caring if he tried to pick on homosexuals etc.

That’s when they still remembered what Pence did to Indiana.

It’s the “Pottery Barn” rule; you break it, you bought it. Also, “no backsies.” You’re stuck with the Worst Candidate Ever.

Pence was steamrollering. If Kaine waited until Pence stopped talking, Pence would still be talking. Pence would say let me finish my sentence and follow with three run on sentences filled with lies on different topics than the topic he was asked about. There has to be a term for this as a debate maneuver. It’s as though Pence said to himself if I just keep talking all the time and run out the clock with prepared lies, aKaine will look like he’s interrupting if he as much as opens his mouth.

Possibly Pence pulled successfully the trick of talking all the time so that any response looked like an interruption. But I’m with you – he converted few if any voters and energized our side.

Pence showed no respect for anybody other than straight Christian conservative white men. Everybody has to do what he says because he has faith and we need unity.

“There has to be a term for this as a debate maneuver.”

It’s called the Marsha Blackburn Maneuver.

Anyway, thought we were going to see two funeral parlor directors going at it. Nice surprise. This will be forgotten by 5 PM but all the slights directed at the Big Baby will resonate. Should be entertaining next Tuesday(?), maybe even epic, as he spews all the hurts he feels. Na na na na na.

Let these Conservatives crow… I live in Indiana. Tim Kaine did his job which was to attack Trump. I could make a laundry list of reason’s Pence is a loser. Kaine could have went after Pence but that was not the strategy to win the election. Just to put the list out there. Pence was in trouble in the GOV election. There were yard signs all over Indy stating “PENCE MUST GO.”

Pence let the far right railroad him into signing that Religious restoration bill letting Businesses discriminate against the gay community making Indiana a laughing stock and hurting business in Indianapolis. This after the GOP backed chamber of commerce and big conservative businesses like Eli Lilly loudly warned Pence to not sign the bill. He did it anyway. Pence then reversed it after the chit hit the fan nationally.

Pence refused to take that fed money over preschool for no freaking reason other then he didn’t want to take federal money worried about his politico ideology rather then kids. He has since reversed that. He has left some poor guy waiting to get a pardon for a crime he didn’t commit and serving time for the crime. The guy can’t get a good job til he gets a pardon even though he was released.

The whole needle swapping issue. Which I admit I am not real informed on. I am sure others are… Pence stopped the program and heroin addiction in rural Indiana spiked sharply. Pence has since reversed the position after making things worse.

Pence brags about the unemployment rate in Indiana. But that is really linked to Obama’s auto bailout which saved the auto industry. Which the GOP fought and cost Romney Ohio in 2012. Pence also left his LT Gov in a bad spot taking the VP nomination as His Lt Gov lost the recent debate to Dem Gregg.

If Pence were at the top of the ticket with his extreme right views on abortion and the rest of his baggage… I just skimmed off the top not to mention his gerrymandered House District he won election after election. Seriously you’d laugh your azz off at it’s lines. It started just east of Indianapolis to Ohio border, stopped just south of Fort Wayne going north and then went south just north of Kentucky border just avoiding all the major urban areas. Covering a large swath of small towns. Nice rigged district for Pence.

Pence would lose big in the general election vs Hillary. He has never ever stood up to his base on any issue until he was in politico trouble. In a state that went big for Romney in 2012. Pence almost lost to Dem Gregg who ran a hokey Hoosier campaign and was not well financed.

Wow - I just don’t get it. Kaine was a little nuts the first 30 minutes, but he settled down. Pence is creepy and a liar. A person of faith would not sell out his morality for a run at the oval. If he was smart, he would know that Trump cannot be president. Instead, he supports Trump for his own ambition. Not the kind of person who should be the president. So disappointed with the MSNBC crowd. Chris Mathews declared Pence the winner and the lemmings followed.

Last time that I, whipped that Mexican thing out, all the cheese fell off ; )

Do Mexicans have more than ‘one thing’ cuz Trump has a taco bowl full of stuff that he whipped out.

Well, it worked with Cheney. Republicans use the same play book as long as it works. Guess they’ll have to write a new one after this election. (apologies if this was already noted ).

Yes, Kasich won exactly one state in the primary. That’s the good news.

He never left his right wing church, and I saw our dreadful Christofacist Gov. Bevin drooling all over him and trying to get on TV just after it was over and Pence working the crowd. Rancid peas in a pod those two.

Maybe we should float the theory that Kellyanne Conway and Stephen Bannon are Mike Pence’s agents, working for a Dominionist presidency (under Pence, when Trump regrettably resigns ‘for health reasons’).

SPLC claims (I tend to believe them, based on KAC’s former employers) that KAC and SB are members of the Council for National Policy.

According to an SPLC statement, Breitbart.com CEO Stephen Bannon and pollster Kellyanne Conway — hired as Trump 2016’s CEO and campaign manager, respectively — are members of the Council for National Policy (CNP), a highly secretive group that includes a roster of controversial white supremacists and rightwing agitators.

“The CNP is not controversial so much for the conservatives who dominate it — activists of the religious right and the so-called ‘culture wars,’ along with a smattering of wealthy financiers, Congressional operatives, right-wing consultants and Tea Party operatives — as for the many real extremists who are included,” wrote SPLC senior fellow Mark Potok.

The SPLC was able to obtain the CNP’s closely-guarded 2014 membership directory and found that it included “people like Michael Peroutka, a neo-Confederate who for years was on the board of the white supremacist League of the South; Jerome Corsi, a strident Obama ‘birther’ and the propagandist hit man responsible for the ‘Swift boating’ of John Kerry; Joseph Farah, who runs the wildly conspiracist “news” operation known as WorldNetDaily; Mat Staver, the Liberty Counsel leader who has worked to re-criminalize gay sex; Philip Zodhaites, another anti-gay activist who is charged with helping a self-described former lesbian who kidnapped her daughter from her former partner and fled the country; and a large number of other similar characters.”

If the SPLC is saying it, it’s true.

I strengthened my wording a bit, but anyone can make mistakes or be fooled…

Oh, of course, but I’ve personally never heard that about the Southern Poverty Law Center. They certainly have been busy pointing out irrefutable examples. Too many, unfortunately.

There has to be a term for this as a debate maneuver.

It’s called the Gish Gallop:

“His debating opponents said that Gish used a rapid-fire approach during a debate, presenting arguments and changing topics quickly. Eugenie Scott, executive director of the National Center for Science Education, dubbed this approach the Gish Gallop, describing it as “where the creationist is allowed to run on for 45 minutes or an hour, spewing forth torrents of error that the evolutionist hasn’t a prayer of refuting in the format of a debate.” She also criticized Gish for failing to answer objections raised by his opponents. The phrase has also come to be used as a pejorative to describe similar debate styles employed by proponents of other, usually fringe beliefs, such as homeopathy or the moon landing hoax.”

SPLC appears to be a very professional and worthy organization.

A person of faith would not sell out his morality for a run at the oval.

American Evangelicals have shown repeatedly that they’ll sell out Jesus Christ and everything he actually espoused without so much as blinking an eye if it means access to temporal power and their parishoners’ silver.

For these gigantic hypocrites, Donald Trump represents the perfect embodiment of their true theology: the Prosperity Gospel. They recognize and admire Trump’s one successful trait: an amazing ability to recognize suckers, and then to bamboozle those gullible rubes into emptying their wallets into the collection plate.
