Discussion: Vulnerable Red State Dems Promise 'Fair' Consideration Of Kavanaugh For SCOTUS

I don’t disagree, the party seems to think being called bad names by people that hate them is the worst thing ever. I wonder when that happened, at what point did that become the Democrats truth. I know in the 60’s Democrats fought like hell to get Voting Rights, Equal Rights and Social Justice causes through. Say what you will about LBJ, he knew how to get things done. Is that it, is losing the south when Democrats lost their fight? I’d really hate to think that, but whatever the case this crap about keeping our powder dry for the “real” fight, or letting Red State Dems off the hook because we fear losing a seat is getting old.

The future of the very existence of our Republic is at stake. It is time to be more than fair with your confirmation vote. You must now be both fair AND balanced! YES! Take the Fox State News approach. Vote NO!

This is such a strange position to take. Even if it is a red state these senators depend on democratic voters but even if some skew more right they can easily alienate enough of their base to do themselves irreparable harm. I don’t see Republican voter voting for them even if the do confirm the nominee so it is a lose lose.

“I will evaluate Judge Kavanaugh’s record, legal qualifications, judicial philosophy and particularly, his views on healthcare.”

I was thinking about this last night. Kavanaugh’s record about this issue is clear, and this is what people like Manchin from those places hardest-hit by the GOP assaults against ACA could take full advantage of for their re-election campaigns.

I don’t mind about those preliminary reactions from those guys who aren’t from Massachusetts, but I will keep watching how they will use this as opportunities.

It’s Trumps America, now! And we’re all gonna be rich, too!

In other news, Democrats look for ways to demotivate their base and undifferentiate themselves from the Republicans who call them baby-killers.

Nope. It doesn’t matter how they vote- they will still face a Republican challenger who will paint them as too liberal for their state. They should vote their principles, because that is easier to defend, than some half-assed lie about not giving someone a hearing because POTUS with 11 months left in office is a lame duck.

There’s nothing magical about voting for Kavanaugh. these Dems will still face a Republican challenger who will hammer them over issues real and imagined.
