I wonder if anyone with the state has bothered to study how the Kansas brand has done in the wake of Brownback et al. I used to hear “Kansas” and have pleasant associations (Fats Domino’s “Kansas City,” good ol’ Dorothy and Auntie Em, etc.) and now I hear “Kansas” and immediately think “backwards.”

As SoS for Kansas, he doesn’t do the actual counting, nor would be be present when it is done.
He does set the amount of the bond required of the candidate requesting the recount.
