Sometimes shunning is the best way to deal with a malign influence.

Nice move by Vimeo.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled Omarosa programming, already and perpetually in progress.

It must have been a wrench for them to give up that refund. Vimeo is the Betamax of the video hosting world, the idea having been to be a slightly more spiffy version of YouTube for people who wanted that, but they’ve been falling behind for a while now. You can get a free account but they really push the paid services, that being their business model, and it’s just not working so well as far as I can tell. So if even Vimeo’s giving him the boot, well there you are.

Alex Jones is slowly being starved of the oxygen that feeds his bloated hatred. So be it.

In recent days, Apple, Facebook, YouTube, Spotify, Stitcher, LinkedIn and Pinterest have blocked or removed most of Jones’ programming, citing policies against the spread of misinformation and the encouragement of harassment.

This may be true, and I haven't bothered to dive too deep into this kerfuffle. However, when tooling around the tubes I constantly see headlines from various sources to the effect "Yeah, well, so-and-so SAYS they've removed or blocked this, that or the other aspect of Jones, but his (fill in the blank) content can still be found there." I guess Jones has content he broadcasts or uploads from a half dozen or so sources or internal business registrations. Just how complete is his and his subsidiaries removal from all these various platforms, really?

I imagine it’s like removing sock puppets from a discussion forum. You ban the primary, and quickly find the bulk of the sock puppets. The remainder are tougher to track down, so it may take a while to find them. But as long as sharp-eyed visitors occasionally send up a flare - “Yo, Vimeo, I just found another bunch of Alex Jones’ crap posted under the username TurdMouth” - you can keep chipping away at them.

That ship is sinking.

it didn’t want to “profit from content of this nature in any way, what with all this ruckus.

How about an apology too?

I’m looking forward to Jones’ return to the media platforms that were made for him, shortwave radio, local public access TV, and handing out pamphlets in front of the Post Office along with the LaRouchies.

Wait, doesn’t the constitution require all privately-run communications companies to carry his content, whether they like it or not, because of the First Amendment?

Oh. No. It doesn’t. That’s not what freedom of speech means.

We used to sometimes listen to his show on the radio - can’t remember if it was AM - it was a pre-hipster era hipster joke. I was genuinely shocked to find out he amassed a large audience and that people believed his crap. It was like watching those 1950s sci-fi flicks and finding out people really were scared of alien invasions and giant mutated ants.

They should have donated his refund to the Sandy Hook survivors fund.

True.
And if you go straight to fire, people wonder.
