One hopes that this will play out like the prosecution of Al Capone. Couldn’t nail him for most of the horrendous things we know he did, but anything that will put him in prison will suffice, thank you very much.

An early Christmas present from Obama to America.

He’ll probably never see a jail cell, but it will cost him lots of money.

the feds better have this one locked down tight; because if he walks away from this, he’ll be even more ruthless with a feeling of invulnerability… and you can be sure he’ll hire the best defense attorneys – all likely former sec officials.

i can’t wait until his mugshot is released; and that can be used every time this ruthless little prick shows up in the media, instead of those with that seemingly permanent smirk that are currently used.

Whaaaaat? A unethical hedge fund manager a-hole (who decided to quit the hedge fund (shell) game to try his hand at price gouging deathly ill human beings… because what other next step is there for a hedge fund manager?) is found to also have broken laws to further enrich himself?!? Naaaah!

Turing Pharmaceuticals executive Martin Shkreli, who was reviled for raising the price of an HIV-treating drug by 5,000 percent, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of securities fraud related to his previous hedge fund, according to Bloomberg Business.

Why is everyone angry at this bright, attractive young entrepreneur? He just raised the price of his product. It’s a free market economy, right? Besides, things like that new Wu-Tang Clan album are very expensive! And R&D. R&D is also very, very expensive. When you take R&D cost into account, drug companies are practically giving their products away. Everybody knows that.

i realize you’re being snarky… but this asshole does not do r&d; he buys up expiring patents and then jacks up the prices.

Probably not. He’s toxic now. He makes his bucks a s a confidence man and that shit is over. He’s the kind of yuppie puke most folks can’t stand. After this no one will be able to stand him. He’s done.

He’s the kind of yuppie puke most folks can’t stand.

He’s a dead ringer for all the smug yuppie pukes who are frequent bad guys on “Law & Order” episodes. I’d give a nice box o’ cash to watch Lennie Briscoe and Ed Green march into his office and handcuff the smarmy little fuck in front of his staff as he barks at his puzzled blonde secretary “Don’t say anything and call my lawyer!”

I think Shkreli is actually a Ferengi name, if you get my drift.

They arrested his “outside counsel” lawyer, too.

Which actually is what most R&D consists of in major pharma companies today…its researching potential buy out targets and developing the plan for the financial take over.

I worked a project for a major pharma company back in 2001-02. And something like 80% of their R&D budget was dedicated to researching potential new companies to buy.

The disease being discussed is chagas, transmitted by parasites.

His most recent gambit is raise the price of a drug used in third-world countries and in Latin American communities here, provided free in the US by the CDC, but (if I’m reading it right)

He said the price would be similar to that of hepatitis C drugs, which cost $60,000 to nearly $100,000 for a course of treatment.
