Are these some of the people paid by O’Keefe to riot?
Let’s not kid ourselves, or go as crazy as the right. This wasn’t a false anything. These are the same deeply frustrating dumbasses who’ve been showing up since the G-8 in Seattle. They’ve always thought playing war with their skinhead playmates in a parking lot in Anaheim was politically constructive. If the police wanted to discredit the left, they’d let them out of jail tonight and just watch them go back out and smash shit again at the Women’s March tomorrow. I’m sure the minimum-wage workers sweeping up broken glass in the rain appreciate the solidarity.
Washington Post reporter covering the protests was roughed up by the cops.
Yes, at least according to an article in the Huffington Post:
Protest of started up again in D.C. Police are using flash bang grenades and pepper spray.
Stupid.
I seriously would not be surprised if in some cases there are infiltrators among some of these protestors. It a well-known tactic. Some will try to pass themselves off as lefties, but are really just trying to make the peaceful rights to free speech by those against Trump look bad.
On top of that, anarchists are just pure idiots and are not much different than the nihilists in Congress that want to just take government out of the equation altogether. They may think there is a method to their madness, but I have yet to see anarchists ever advance a cause other than one of destruction and entropy. Their only objective is to stoke confusion and chaos…They are not the majority of protestors, but they will give everyone a bad name and the press will eat that up by failing to distinguish between the different groups of protestors…and much will be lost if that becomes the main focus of the protests.
Please, ew, oh mein Gott, save the violence until it is way, way, way, too late!
Go kid!
Project Veritas is just so dedicated to truth that they’re willing to pay agent provocateurs to expose it!
Why would you smash things that have nothing to do with Trump?
Jesus, a bus stop? That’s public.
Kind of funny that we’re all (me included) rooting for the deep state to save our asses from Trump but get our knickers in a twist when anarchists break some windows. Who cares what Breitbart says? They’d make up something similar anyway.
I knew a bunch of anarchists back in the day. They were mostly sweet kids from fucked up homes, kicked out at 14 for being gay or whatever. (They are, however, inordinately fond of playing war with skinheads in parking lots. I’ll give you that @graycardinal.)
This is a huge and massive over-reaction. When the protesters damage their own cause in this way, it strengthens Trump. It validates those who have supported him with great reluctance. It converts reluctant supporters into stronger supporters. It alienates normal people.
Every riot makes Trump stronger.
How long before Tr*mp uses this an excuse to have martial law declared to head off tomorrow’s scheduled march?
Forever, but it would play into our hands if he did.
(To be clear, I don’t think these shenanigans are particularly smart or constructive, but they’re nothing to get too worried about either.)
I hear you. That’s the part I find frustrating. And there are times, like clinic defenses, where they’re really helpful.
In a circumstance like this though, here’s where I land. There are tens of thousands of people out there protesting for the first time. There will be more tens of thousands out there tomorrow. We want that. We want massive raw numbers on the streets. But it is their first time. If we turn the whole thing into a double-black diamond course, where you have to show up, be effective and not get caught in between the cops and these guys, I worry first-timers will decide to sit it out. And for the next day or two, showing Trump and the rest of the world that he’s NOT the head of a massive popular movement, that he’s just a guy who caught a lucky bounce, is the most important message we can put out there right at this second. If smashing a Starbucks window tonight keeps 1000 suburban moms from showing up tomorrow, in my mind that’s a bad trade-off, though there’s nothing I can do about it.
35 comments and nobody else wondered about the motherfucking snakes at the motherfucking protest of the motherfucking inauguration of that motherfucking Trumpp?
…members of the group acting in a concerted effort engaged in acts of vandalism and several instances of destruction of property. More specifically, the group damaged vehicles, destroyed the property of multiple businesses, and ignited smaller isolated fires while armed with crowbars, hammers and asps.
Agree. I just don’t think this level of vandalism is going to have much of an impact, one way or another. If things get out of hand, that’s another story.
A winger FB friend of my wife’s put up a post denouncing the ‘violence’ and 30 people responded in minutes blasting her for supporting Trump.
