Discussion: VA Secretary Says He Regrets Expensive European Trip On Taxpayer Dime

“It is outrageous that you would portray my wife and me as attempting to take advantage of the government.”
–Shulkin then

“We act with the highest ethical character. I relied upon my staff to do this, and in retrospect, I wish that I had asked more questions.”
–Shulkin now

You work for Trump, jackass. You abandoned any pretense of “highest ethical character” when you took the job.

Hide during all the shooting coverage.

Read the entire story in the Washington Post. His wife used his staff members as her personal travel assistants, demanding that they book and rebook flights for her convenience and that they schedule her sightseeing itinerary. There is no question that these two were lapping up goodies at the taxpayer trough.

Now that’s a REAL (Republican) man…grift the government, be very very sorry when you get caught, blame your staff and then wash, rinse, repeat. Where have we seen THIS cycle before?

Worse than a crook, he’s a crook who threw his assistant under the bus to cover his ass. He’s humiliated himself and should resign.

Did someone say email???

Lock her up… Lock her up

Let’s not talk about regrets- there aren’t enough words or days in the year. Let’s just make sure no repulbican has a job paid by taxpayers ANYWHERE in the nation. This party has got to be abolished either the nice way or the not so nice way.

Since Trump took office we have example after example of corruption and lying by administration member after administration member. Never before in our nation’s history have we had an Administration like this…rich white Republicans who believe they deserve different rules than all previous administrations and living by a standard set for themselves but very different from the standards they set for the poor and the middle class.

Throw Trump and his swamp out of office: IMPEACH Trump and Pence…they are not upholding the oath of office and they are running a corrupt organization where our nation’s top secrets are being exposed and leaked by them to the Russians and other enemies of the state!

If he didn’t get busted, there would be no regrets! But that is true for the entire Trump mafia gang!

And after all that, she now gets to play patsy for a trump-era grifting bozo. Does she fall on her sword, or does she turn him in?

I’m going to try that on my taxes next year. I’m going to cash out a bunch of stocks and falsify the basis so it looks like I actually sold them at a loss. I’ll sign my name at the bottom of the form.

If I get caught, I’ll explain to the IRS that I regret it. Then it’s all good, water under the bridge.

That’ll work, right?

I guess that answers the question of who leaked the story.

These guys are nothing more than the stereotypical frat boy, though well into middle age. Harassing women, hating on AAs and immigrants, caring about nothing than their own personal needs, accepting no responsibility, and oh, failing out of government.

But I am sure this is the first corrupt act she does in those 32 years.

They didn’t have to leak. There was an OIG investigation, which generated a public report.

This is going to be the longest, bigly assed footnote in the history of footnotes. I wonder how many volumes the footnotes related to Trump’s maladministration will run?

Well, heck. Tom Price’s travel cost the taxpayers more than $1 million in only 4 months. Surely this is such small potatoes in comparison that it should have flown, no pun intended, under the radar. I mean, the golf cart rentals that Cadet Bone Spurs forces the Secret Service to purchase from him cost more than this.

Still wondering how a ticket to Denmark can cost more than $4,000, but I guess the Secretary’s wife needed to avoid those negative interactions with the coach-class passengers.

This reads as though it were put together from a word bank of buzzwords. But I guess in this case, she leveraged her expertise in policy practices to implement an innovative, outcomes-oriented initiative to transform her boss’s travel plans with high impact on the taxpayer.
