The Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security have not been held in nearly enough contempt by the courts. But they will be. With any luck, Jeff Sessions’ and Kirstjen Nielsen’s heads will explode on that day…

These folks are getting bolder. Deporting a family that are plaintiffs is ballsy and stupid. How many ways can our government treat this family unjustly? Good for this judge. He should sanction Sessions now.

U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan:

“This is pretty outrageous,” Sullivan said in court, according to The Washington Post. “That someone seeking justice in U.S. court is spirited away while her attorneys are arguing for justice for her?”

It’s disgusting.

If they fail to comply, the judge said, Sessions, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and other senior Homeland Security officials would have to convince him not to hold them in contempt of court.

This administration’s behavior far surpasses contempt of court.

It’s contempt of country — contempt for basic human decency.

More power to Judge Sullivan.

I’d love to see Judge Sullivan hold them in contempt and impose huge fines on each of them. That’s probably the only way to really get the administration’s attention.

Yes, it’s not a step someone in his position can take lightly, but I hope he finds his way to it as well.

That is, if these monsters don’t stop being quite as unabashed in their monstrosity.

The thing I’m getting from all the reporting is that DHS is not following the court’s orders. Or the DoJ is not informing the DHS of the court’s orders. Or that ICE is not following the court’s orders. So what we have here two agencies and a department that aren’t talking to eachother-now this is being generous.
I could contend that all this assfuckery is by design and not incompetence.

Can you imagine being the DoJ lawyer that had to stand there and take the tongue lashing?

Incompetence coupled with racism forming policy.

From Rachel’s reading of the transcript last night, the attorney sounded as dismayed as the judge.

When Hollywood made the movie on Audie Murphy’s experience during WW2 they actually toned down some of the over the top crazy and heroic stuff he did because they were worried people would find the truth unbelievable. I have a feeling that 40-50 years from now they will face the same problem with depicting the cartoonishly over the top petty assholery of this administration.

I watched the segment on Rachel’s show where she read the transcript of the hearing. That was one very pissed Federal judge and one squirming deputy US attorney. I am surprised the Judge didn’t send the US marshals to collect Jeff Sessions.

Judge is a black Clinton appointee, so clearly he need not be obeyed as far as Grand Cyclops Darth Keebler is concerned.

Who will enforce it? Isn’t JBS the chief law enforcement officer?

It is already established that Sessions is contemptible…

First appointed to the (not quite federal) bench by Reagan, however.

Before Jackson was president-
"The state of Georgia became involved in a contentious dispute with the Cherokee, culminating in the 1832 Supreme Court decision in Worcester v. Georgia. Chief Justice John Marshall, writing for the court, ruled that Georgia could not forbid whites from entering tribal lands, as it had attempted to do with two missionaries supposedly stirring up resistance amongst the tribespeople. Jackson is frequently attributed the following response: “John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it.”
