The nightmare expands. :scream:

I was thinking it has been 14 years since we attacked Iraq. 16 years since actions in Afghanistan begin. Not including actions prior to that, the US Military has been continuously active in combat for the duration of that time. It is coming down to there are career soldiers who will have their entire time in at war of some type without any actual break. What I am seeing today somewhat guarantees it. That has got to be a serious wear and tear issue. It also will change how our military views its mission over the years.

That is the hard part, there are people who will buy his sudden turn to empathy as a changing of the person. It is simply another tactic. Never let your guard down with this guy. It will come back to haunt you.

I think Pelosi and Schumer have it right - it was a proportional response to Assadā€™s blatant violation of international law but anything larger or continuous will need the blessing of Congress. Now Trump will have to do the hard part and that is put together a coalition if he wants to do more to stop the carnage in Syria. In a perfect world the U.N. would have already stepped up to do that but they canā€™t be counted on for much beyond strongly-worded statements anymore.

Iā€™m not a fan of Trump by any means but I think he got it right tonight especially given the fact that just a few days ago Tillerson said that the fate of Assad would be in the hands of the Syrian people and it seemed that Assad felt like he was given the green light to do what he wants. Well, tonight we showed him that using Sarin gas will not be tolerated anymore. What Trump decides to do in the event of the use of those barrel bombs remains an open question and again, one that the Congress should be apart of.

In the meantime, letā€™s hope that tonightā€™s response makes Assad think long and hard about what he did a few days ago at the least.

Poor bats. I hate it when humans use animals in their endless wars.

It isnā€™t a violation because heā€™s Trump and the Republicans are in power ā€¦ if Obama had done the same thing, impeachment papers would already be printed. Unless the Republicans wake up to the danger and recklessness of this creature theyā€™ve created and espoused ā€¦

I donā€™t think itā€™s a coincidence that Xi is here either.

You are right. I just figured NK crazy guy would like the satisfaction of bombing a major port city.

My point is not that there are not sane military people who understand the cost of war - there are - but simply that that is what they are primarily trained for. The lack of sane civilian oversight by people trained and experienced in all of the diplomatic alternatives to war is what is really chilling about this administration. Itā€™s Trump, his amateur cronies, his amateur relatives, and ā€œhis generalsā€ as he likes to call them. Not a well rounded combo in the situation room.

I do think we are all praying for the sanity and persuasiveness of the generals right now.

Trumpā€™s viagra.

The people on here who have been claiming for months that trump is putinā€™s puppet ought to man up and admit they were wrong.

You donā€™t think itā€™s a coincidence that Assad used chemical weapons a few days before Xi arrived? Suspect youā€™re reading too much into the tea leaves

Sounds impressive (60 Tomahawks) but the warned the Russians, who warned the Syrians, who all skedaddled as quick as they could. This was no more than theater ā€¦ bombing abandoned buildings and tarmac in the desert. You can tell if the Syrians feel threatened ā€¦ they will lash out at neighbors to bring more into the conflict ā€¦ specifically a nation that starts with an ā€œIā€ and ends in ā€œsraelā€. If they send poison gas in that direction all bets are off.

As an added bonus they first bought stock into the companies that make Tomahawks (Raytheon & GD I think). This is Kabuki ā€¦ Putinā€™s Bitch would not jeopardize that shiny Employee of the Month plaque from the SVR and signed by the Czar himself.

The fact 7 people died negates your point. I donā€™t know how much warning was given but unrealistic to think they totally emptied the air base, all ammo, equipment etc not to mention radar/comms/infrastructure. This will significantly weaken their capacity, but more than that will give serious pause to military personnel thinking of launching more strikes. It was a warning shot, and a clever one.

Russia and Iran condemn Dumblefuckā€™s actions:

Feeling like youā€™ve been played yet, Cheeto?

I am wondering whether the Rabid Orange Mole took the opportunity provided by the horrific chemical gas attack to create a diversion from his quid pro quo collusion with Russian intelligence. Interestingly, Donald and First Lady (Washington DC) Ivank Trump notified Russian intelligence before the attack.

Of course they could! Unlike war hawk Kowardly Killary who loves war criminal Kissinger, the courageous Dems who opposed Bushā€™s Iraq war were proven correct. Pelosi should have been gone last year.

Hillary and her war mongering neo-liberal brethren can go to hell. We need Dems with spine.

Pictures of dead children is always used as an excuse by Republicans to kill more of them. As long as the weapon says ā€œmade in America,ā€ it is okay.
