People like Trump believe that not only can they hire undocumented aliens but somehow they are stupid…at the very least they are beholden to their betters. This goes against EVERYTHING we say we stand for in this country. It’s amazing these women are braver than the cowardly ‘elites’ in the Congress. They RECOGNIZE wrongdoing.

US already issues passport books and cards…for a fee.
I surmise by your drift here that in your opinion, possession of a national ID should be mandatory, with exception, I assume, for exercise of personal freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution. In other words, entirely voluntary, and no loss of civil rights for lack of possession. So exactly how does this differ from a passport card, other than perhaps abolishing the fees for application and renewal.

Nope. Mandatory. Just like every other advanced country. There are certain responsibilities that come with citizenship, it’s not onerous to have an ID card (or do you think you should be able to opt out of having an SSN, paying taxes or the like?).

The hell these people and their families live through every day is soul-crushing to think about. And the smug, careless prejudice of so many Americans is enraging. Not to mention whoever is making the death threats to these brave women’s families. I know a Democratic House isn’t going to fix everything, and whatever improvements do happen will take time, but I am so ready to start seeing some accountability in Washington.

Undocumented workers are all over. Resorts, hotels, restaurants, farms, construction sites. This is why Republicans will never pass any significant immigration reform. Half of them, the base, want no immigration at all from south of the border, and the other, more powerful, half absolutely need undocumented labor to support their corrupt lifestyle. It’s a fucking conundrum. Insoluble.
