Discussion: Unclear If DOJ Office That Advises The Prez Reviewed Trump Executive Orders

I disagree. everything about him is image. Not much substance. That’s why he’s so upset with crowd size and his tiny sausage like fingers.

If Trump deems something legal, it’s legal. The sooner everyone accepts that the sooner they can fall in line and get on with their lives.

Good observation…

No one ever reads the retraction…

I have to disagree. That is ALL he cares about. He watches himself and every one else on TV with the sound off because he has no interest in any substance. His entire interest is in how things look.

Given the questionable legality of some of the orders, and the inability to execute most of them without Congressional action, I’d say it’s kind of obvious that the Office of Legal Counsel either didn’t review most of Trump’s “Executive” Orders, or that their advice was ignored after the review.

I’m gonna go with “didn’t review” as the more likely answer for the time being.

My personal preference would be to see him frog marched off to a van to be taken to prison. The best alternative would be to be hounded and humiliated on the sidewalk by the press. That would go for Stephen Bannon as well btw.
Nowhere to run… no goon to protect him from the press’ incessant questions

C’mon. It is ALWAYS easier to say I’m sorry than to ask permission! Plus by the time the (potential) lawsuit wends it way through the courts they will have already screwed the public.

Being The Donald means never having to say you’re sorry.

The DOJ may have a political appointee over the OLC but the majority of OLC personnel are GSs and it would take Donnie five to seven years to fire them.

Donnie has no clue concerning how DC runs.

Close enough. Assuming this man can last for four years, I think we’ll see a near-record number of executive orders from him.

Ryan and his ilk are probably writing furiously to pass directives to Trump. Can you think of a better way to get stuff done without the Democrats interfering than to attribute all your wishes coming true to the Orange One.

There is only so much the Executive has the constitutional authority to do. And almost none of it is domestic. The Executive has immense power in foreign relations but not at home.

Congress is actually more powerful in that respect, especially since they control the purse strings. They may want some stuff, but I can’t imagine it would be much since they are aimed at legislation and he can’t do that.

It is a simple matter of efficiency. Why waste taxpayer dollars on a review nobody is going to read?

I’m not sure he even understands that there is a reality beneath the layer of optics. It’s like the Truman show in reverse.

And I m not joking here, I really don’t think he has a concept of reality or truth.

What’s somewhat terrifying is that I totally agree with that. I don’t think he understands that either. He may have an inkling but dismisses it as unimportant.

It is the Truman Show in reverse. Jeez - good description

All the people who were upset about Obama’s tyrannical use of executive orders were too busy organizing spontaneous demonstrations of thanks to Tremendous Leader for raising the chocolate ration from thirty to twenty grams.

Drumpf has a very good rationale for not having the DOJ review his EOs. They will all be found to be Constitutional once he packs the courts with fawning sycophants. It’s the way all autocrats work.
