Discussion: Udall Donor Fumes: 'F--king Abortion Is All He Talks About'

Discussion for article #229670

rolls eyes…maybe the reason this schmuck hates that Udall is talking about abortion is because he’s a man.

Udall’s opponent is an extremist whack job who has supported “personhood” legislation. If Udall wasn’t hitting this issue hard, he’d be letting his opponent slide on his biggest vulnerability. People like this heckler would be complaining even more loudly.

If it weren’t for fucking, there would be no need for a fucking abortion, you moran.

Jesus Christ, are all Millionaires fucking cry babies regardless of party registration?

Get your own Super Pac buddy! Haven’t your heard of Citizens United?

Also, while criticism of Udall is somewhat justified, the media is up to their old tricks this election cycle. If it doesn’t fit the narrative they are pushing, ignore it.

During the debate, the moderator asked Udall about his seemingly one issue campaign gratuitously throwing in the “some people” were calling him Mark Uterus.

But one could easily ask nearly every single Republican the reverse question.

Why do you never want to talk about abortion during the campaign, but once you are elected, that is all you want to push?

Udall’s looming defeat should be a lesson for Democrats. Fire all of the f**king consultants and pay attention to your consituents.

What Beserra is mad about is that Udall’s campaign talks about almost nothing but abortion The women’s vote by itself is not going to put him over.

Abortion, a single issue that will not drive many people to the poll.

Democrats need to be populists, else they are just politicians turning off liberals also.

Yeah, how dare Udall address an issue that is important to half of CO.'s population of women, like reproductive rights in danger of being dismantled by his Rethuglican opponent. “Real Men” aren’t supposed to do that…What kind of manly-man does that? Who does he think he is, representing Colorado’s women’s issues?

In case people forgot…this is why fucking millionaire backers hate the guy (some even on the Democratic side)…

But just so you know, this is what all weak staffers do too when they’re looking sheepishly for their next meal ticket, and can’t back the one that brought them to the dance in the first place…They balk when they start believing bad polling and start bad-mouthing the guy/gal, that just a day earlier, they professed to support.

So fuck any disloyal SOB that stands in Udall’s way…Go win this one Udall. Prove the cynics wrong and GOTV.

He has a point.  Democrat
haven’t adapted while republicans always do.
Reproductive rights are an important topic but it should not be the only
topic especially when you are running against a guy who shut down the government
and wanted us to default just to name a few of the crazy things garner stands
for

its not the only issue he should be addressing

Coloradoan here, and sorry to say I agree with the pissed off donor.

Udall’s campaign strategists undoubtedly felt Gardner was exposed on this issue, and he is, but you can only play the trump card so many times and to the airtime exclusion of so many other things before the undecideds start feeling resentful.

That’s what this guy is reacting to, that’s what the Post’s editorial board reacted to, and Gardner’s campaign guys have gleefully used it against Udall, at least marginally blunting the issue’s damage. Even the conservation group hammering Gardner had to mention the Personhood thing in their spot - as if someone is enforcing an all-day-every-day requirement that EVERY PAC hitting Gardner had to mention his Personhood support.

Udall appears to be sleepwalking thru this thing, and his media strategists long ago wore out the effectiveness of Gardner’s medieval social issue stance, leaving themselves with little else. I told my wife six weeks ago (when this issue was already WAY overused in Udall’s spots) that Udall was going to lose, and I still think he is.

Dreadful campaign.

McGovern’s 49 state landslide defeat was a lesson that inactive liberals will find a reason not to vote.

Wow, this sure is a helpful thing to say less than a week before the election.

I’m not a political adviser so I can’t say whether Udall’s playing the wrong card. That said, abortion opponents are consistent voters.

I have to say as a Colo res, this donor is absolutely correct and on the mark. When even your staunch supporters are tired of your message, something isn’t working. And as much as the Denver Post shouldn’t matter, the fact this paper endorsed his opponent in a way that seems they were doing so simply because of Udall’s monotone messaging rubbing them the wrong way, that was a big deal.

Sadly, his campaign just decided to double down.

I do believe they’re trying to take a page from Bennet’s successful hammering campaign, and I for one hope it works, but there is so much positive in Colorado right now, it’s sad to see that Udall’s campaign just won’t be bothered to focus on it. The economy is stronger than ever, people appreciate Udall’s take on privacy and federal land protection (even while gub. candidate Beauprez is on record preaching about seizing federal lands to sell them off). That speaks nothing of the large hispanic population which has simply been ignored by both campaigns.

If he does lose, it will be a huge loss for my state and the country. And I would blame the campaign advisors who are unable to walk and chew gum. It has hurt Mark’s image here in a bad way, especially when set against the affable Gardner, who just has this folksy image, despite the voting record of a hard-line right winger.

Too bad.

I agree with you and the millionaire donor. I am proud that Udall cares about women’s reproductive rights, but you cannot be a single issue candidate when the other side is spending millions to defeat you and is lying through his teeth. Negative ads work because far too many american voters are lazy, if not stupid.

It is not all he talks about and that donor did nothing to help the cause. That’s the kind of self defeating crap that’s plagued Democrats for years. Thanks asshole…

Beserra is 100% correct and it’s precisely this kind of myopic, tunnel-visioned nonsense, coupled with lackluster spineless campaigning, that’s losing Dems their elections this year. It’s fucking ridiculous.
