It’s the f’n Catholic religion! Why wouldn’t they schedule a Holocaust denier!? They should watch Nazi atrocities on the History Channel and learn what happened from 1933 to 1945. If there is a way to f@@k up the Catholic Church will find it.

A couple of nitpicks about wording.

First, I know that you’re trying to find a way of not calling someone a holocaust denier when they merely lie about the impact on some of the people oppressed and killed. But “distorter” and “distortions” don’t cut it. It’s like falling into the trap of calling bad changes to something “reform”. Lies, misrepresentations, in this case I think a charge of antisemitism would be perfectly justifiable.

Second, did you notice what the catholic church spokesperson did? They didn’t cancel the speeches because they were dishonest or disgustingly evil or an insult to christianity; they cancelled them because the speaker was “controversial”.

I suggest substituting excerpts from the movie Shoah, with some shots of the actual camps when liberated thrown in, with maybe a soupçon of Judgment at Nuremberg, And perhaps an excerpt showing the destruction of the Warsaw Ghetto and the rubble to which the Nazis reduced the area.

I’d prefer to let people speak and to counter them with truth – but Ms. Cambranes sounds like a mensch.

Poland had recently passed a law criminalizing claims of Polish responsibility for the Holocaust sparking outrage from Israel, according to Tablet Magazine.

One of the things made illegal by that law is the use of the phrase “Polish death camp.”

Obama used it seven years ago and here’s what followed:

“In referring to ‘a Polish death camp’ rather than ‘a Nazi death camp in German-occupied Poland,’ I inadvertently used a phrase that has caused many Poles anguish over the years and that Poland has rightly campaigned to eliminate from public discourse around the world,” Obama wrote in a letter released by the Polish government. “I regret the error and agree that this moment is an opportunity to ensure that this and future generations know the truth.”
