Discussion: Two MN City Council Members Charged After Chair-Swinging Meeting Brawl

After criminal charges over a physical altercation in the city council of Thief River Falls, can we now expect public corruption charges from the municipal administration in Norway Brawl?

Fifth degree assault? I had to look that up

An assault in the fifth degree is the lowest level of assault in the
state and is defined under the 2015 Minnesota Statutes as a misdemeanor offense…

The Minnesota Statutes state a charge of fifth-degree assault can be brought for the following:

  • Attempting to make another person afraid of imminent death or grievous injury
  • Trying to seriously injure somebody
  • Seriously injuring someone intentionally

Sounds like plain ol’ Assault to me?

That must be some splash pad!

five degrees of assault in MN ? Makes the Inuits 20 word for ‘Snow’ come to mind ? Minnesota must be a tedious place…

Couldn’t figure that out either. Thanks for clarification. I thought 5th degree was like sticking your tongue out at someone or making faces.

Was it really about a childrens’ splash pad, though?
