Discussion: Turmoil Within DNC Rises To New Level With Accusation That Chair Lied

When do the debates begin? Not the joint press conference we had on Tuesday, but the actual debates?

Yeah, I mean next thing you know they will put up a young state senator from Illinois with a funny name on stage to give a keynote speech because he represents a key demo. That might turn out bad.

This is like a Bernie Sanders support’s wet dream. They’ve been harping on DWS for months (and they’ve been particularly nasty as many of them are towards Hillary) because they want more debates. DWS needs to either shut this down, and fast, so it’s not a distraction, or take some sort of private/internal confidence vote amongst the vice chairs and step down if necessary. Personally, I don’t see the need for more debates, the few candidates we have get plenty of air time and with the GOP clown car careening at full speed, better to give them room to embarass themselves.

“The Democratic National Committee staff has never been stronger,” he continued. “The one thing that could stop us from having a great election coming up is if the chair continues to create these self-made dramas that are below what a chair should be doing.”

Rybak said that DNC officials have been urging Wasserman Schultz to include more people in the process for months.

Rybak is correct. DWS does not have the skills. She is the voice of the DNC, and she communicates quite poorly. I cringe when she shows up on TV. About the debates, it’s not so much the number for me, but rather the timing of the debates and that DWS refuses to consult with others in leadership or listen to opposing opinions when she makes important decisions. I’ve been hearing people outside the party leadership structure calling for DWS to step down for a long time.

Seriously. WTF are we gonna hear in the 7th debate that we didn’t in the first 6 already?

We have more freaking debates than candidates. And when considering serious candidates, you have 3 times the number of debates than serious candidates.

The only thing more debates do is provide Republicans with more attack ad material.

The Democratic party is really its own worst enemy.

Let’s face it. Schultz has one interest and one interest only, electing Hillary Clinton at all costs. She put her heavy thumb down on the scale for Hillary.

She should be focusing on winning Senate and House races as well. Where is that effort?

I’m waiting for the food fight.

“And that’s why I’m doing what I wanted not to do for a long time, which is go public with my serious questions of whether she can lead this party,” Rybak added

Or a pissing contest-- apparently.
Everybody involved should STFU and allow a deep bench of candidates to garner as much media spotlight as possible.

Ah, Debbie, choo goh some ‘splainin’ to do!

The Castros seem much younger and less ascetic than Obama…a speech is one thing, power another.

These two vice-chairs need to have their heads examined. Ok DWS may make mistakes. But with the candidates we have why should there be more debates. Do we really want to see and hear the three guys who mumbles and jumbled again. If we can’t decide on our vote at the end of 6 debates we need a good head examination. We don’t need infighting. DWS may be making mistakes. But those two vice-chairs had better park their egos until the campaign is over.

More debates to keep current with events. Remember Obama’s announcement yesterday (10/15/15) that troops will stay in Afghanistan longer, likely into the next president’s term, That was after this first debate and needs to be put before the candidates. Who knows what else could happen before the convention?

What would the optics be of the DNC chair resigning at this moment? At a moment the GOP is rightly getting flak for not being able to choose a leader, I fear it would just lead to a lazy false equivalency in the media, etc., between both parties not being able to pick a leader. It’s just too easy to do even though one party threatens the country and the other is threatening political egos.

Obviously this sniping is bad but a shakeup of the hierarchy right now doesn’t seem any better.

I suspect this has far less to do with debates as it does getting rid of DWS as DNC chair before the elections really get underway. She routinely comes across as out of her depth on television, and has a reputation for alienating those she works with and using her position to further her own influence more than the party’s. Some of this may just be political back-biting, but I know many a Democrat cringes when she appears on the news shows.

She known as an aggressive fundraiser, which I suppose is why she is still in the job, but if your not recruiting candidates to spend the money on, it’s not going to help much.

You know it is entirely possible the kind of outsider/insider tension that is ripping the Republican party to pieces is also adversely affecting the DNC. The Sanders people are clearly not the kind of people Schultz runs with on a regular basis. The Washington crowd is more concerned about fund raising and keeping identified constituent group leaders happy. Sanders has tapped in to what might be called the Democratic counterpoint to the Republican base. Those people don’t hang out in Washington. They want action and they want it now.

I’ve known that Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been at war with the truth since the 2008 presidential race. At least she is being consistent.

Never mind the staff fighting, Wasserman-Schultz doesn’t have the chops to be the DNC chair. Period.

Bring back Howard Dean - he was a great chair.

Right, so these two grandstanding twits feeding the “Democreats in disarray” meme the media eats up with a spoon in their dumbshit quest for more debates because thus have a agenda is helping the Democrats win the Senate and House how?

These are vice-chairs who are acting like high school girl cliques and trying to ride their own fabricated hobby horse issues to an ever willing media stable looking for “controversy with the DNC” type stories.

Fuck them and fuck those screaming “we have to be like the GOP and have a zillion debates” because of their own agendas.

The first debate was fantastic. The other five will likely be as good or better. The three candidates who are in sync with the country and the party base shined and only made themselves and the party look like the responsible adults in the room.

These vice chairs and the similar over-the-top boosters of certain campaigns are the antithesis of that.
