Discussion: Turkish Officials Say Saudi Journalist Recorded Own Death On His Apple Watch

You’re assuming he has a conscience. You’re wrong.

Of course it is. I mean, isn’t it almost word-for-word what he had to say about Putin vis-a-vis Russia’s election interference?

One more way you can hack an Apple Watch.

Quite simply, Trump enables the monsters of the world to act with impunity.

I have been making fun of my 32 year old daughter for having purchased an Apple watch, but in light of this story, I will continue to make fun of her for thinking she needs an Apple watch.

Memo to self being written right now: Do not watch 60 Minutes tomorrow or any other Sunday in the near future.

I can’t even find the words. But it can be boiled it down to Confederate Lee great, Grant a drunk, Lincoln weak.

Tyrants all around the world are listening to what moron says and will take it to mean they can act with impunity against their perceived enemies.

This has been the reaction of almost everyone with the slightest technical knowledge who has commented on it. There are ways that it maybe could happen, but not with both his phones outside, and other details don’t add up. Throw in the fact that the place is almost certainly bugged out the wazoo anyway.

In the full context it seems he was saying Lee was a great general but Grant beat him even though he was a drunk, and Lincoln was a genius for standing behind Grant despite that. Sounds like he’s trying to justify sticking with Kavanaugh.

Interesting story. Could be Turkish spin. Also, how do they know what the Saudi’s did with the Apple watch? The Saudi’s must be nervous knowing their every move is being recorded.

He misquoted Lincoln on Grant’s drinking: People were calling for Grant’s removal and Lincoln said

“you surprise me, gentlemen. But can you tell me where he gets his whiskey?” “We cannot, Mr. President. But why do you desire to know?” “Because, if I can only find out, I will send a barrel of this wonderful whiskey to every general in the army.”

Teetotaler who watched his brother die of alcoholism defends Kav who most likely is still a heavy beer drinker to this day. Go figure.

“…He might even suggest the journalist deserved it…”

If I may wear my dime-store Freud hat, one characteristic of a psychopath is the inability to feel normal emotions. “Normal” in a normative sense – that is, the horror and compassion most of us would feel confronted by this horror show in real time or on video or, for that matter, actors in a film.

Just need to investigate all possibilities here – has Trump yet ruled out somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds?? I recall that guy as being pretty nefarious, wouldn’t put this murder past him.

There are apps that allow you to record with the Apple Watch, and I bet he would use one as part of his interviews as it’s pretty convenient when you want to be sneaky. I can’t find anything about if they can record directly to iCloud without requiring your iPhone; the cellular model has the possibility of doing it if it’s supported in an app. It likely is though, that’s just seen as a network connection. If he got in there and became concerned then he could have activated the recorder and locked his watch. The recording would then be accessible from the iPhone, presuming his fiancee knew his login info. I find all of this totally plausible.

Having video has to come from internal security cameras though, or else a mole who took video or gave an eyewitness statement. In either case, that’s the only way they could know the Saudis tried to open his watch with a finger (failed attempts to log in likely could be reflected in iCloud records, but not a finger press on the phone), and the only way to say they have a video record of what happened (stretching that a bit to cover their mole if it’s just eyewitness testimony).

It’s pretty obvious at this point what happened, how it plays out from here is really the question…I expect more US government inaction to cover for Trump’s friends, at least until the hard evidence comes out, at which point the lying and propaganda will begin once again.

That would be bad enough, but the $110 billion is Fake News anyway. Even Trump called the actual sales figure “peanuts”. Most of those sales were already made before he even thought he would be in the White House. The facts are covered in a WaPo artcle: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/10/11/trumps-billion-arms-sales-saudi-arabia-still-fake/

Most of the “sales” are actually Memorandums of Intent, not any commitment and set for completion dates a decade away. That makes using it even as a lame excuse is just evil.

Sure they were tourists. You’ve got your drug tourists. You’ve got your sex tourists. And you’ve got your murder tourists. Happens all the time.

Are you saying you found him naïve then as well?

Unless Erdogan did it himself against one of his own people, like the cleric living in NJ that he keeps trying to get hold of.

Lovely world where you have a ruthless dictator ratting out a murdering princeling. Donnie must be torn, giving his love for despots (although, of course, it will always come down to his bank account).

Yeah there are no words anymore for that shit.

"However, Trump also said: ‘Could it be [the Saudis]? Yes.’”

He went on to say, “On the other hand, that 400-pound blogger could have sat on him in the basement.”
