Discussion: Tucker Carlson Breaks With Trump: 'He's Not Capable' Of Achieving Campaign Promises

The point of NATO was to keep the Soviets from invading western Europe but they haven’t existed in 27 years, so what is the point?

So It’s the Easter Bunny threatening the Ukraine? I need to call my Nigerian Prince friend and get him on this guy.

Exactly. An attack on one is an attack on all.

Tucker is a moron.

Maybe without NATO there would be less peace on the old continent and we could have more arms sales. I mean it is kind of annoying how they seem to go through life happy, healthy, and educated.

“not capable,” Tucker?

The rest of us knew that four years ago. It was a given.

Like dogs having fleas.

If you’re using phrases like “status quo” or trite words like “elites” you aren’t saying anything.

And so it begins.

So what he is saying is that Trump is a conspiracy theorist detached from reality.

“He didn’t accomplish anything, but he started the conversation”…with Russian spies.

So is Fox going to bail on Trump, too? That would be too fucking sweet.

Or Georgia and the Arctic?

He suggested that Trump’s strength lies in his ability to start “the conversation”

This is the lame-ass excuse that is often used to provide excuses for a village idiot …

Trump’s only ability to “start a conversation” is by saying or doing something that is ill informed, insulting, and potentially dangerous. Trump can’t finish a conversation about anything because he is incompetent.

Carlson is damning Trump with the faintest praise that is possible.

It is interesting to watch the evolving narrative in real time. I remember after W. Bush left office and the Republican Party started acting like they’d never heard of the guy. This sort of historical revisionism to avoid blame is endemic to the current political climate as a whole, but has been perfected by the GOP of the last decade.

let’s add Guliani’s three weeks for two days work to the lack of “focus”

Trump’s strength lies in his ability to start “the conversation” about “what actually matters,”

Anyone thinking this is a dis from TC, this is him acknowledging trump’s true roll is the same as Carlson’s which is to mainstream white supremacist and fascist ideals.

I call BS x a million on Fucker Carlson’s “I think Trump’s role is to begin the conversation about what actually matters."

Let’s see, what would those important things be? Pussy Grabbing? Kenyan Usurpers? Mexican Rapists? [Select brown people] Caravans? Trade Wars? Tariffs?

In fact, now that you mention it Fucker, there’s more like:
a) statistically insignificant correlation between Trump beginning a conversation about something and that thing mattering, and
2) perfect negative correlation with the value of his contribution to that thing.

Yes Trump’s strength lies in his ability to deflect from issues that are critically important to America, such as aging infrastructure and cyber security, by tapping into core Anglo-American values of racism and xenophobia and making issues like keeping Muslims out of the country, stopping all immigration at the border by force, and leaving Europe on its own to deal with an expansionist Russia critical points of discussion. Trump was quick to see that post-racist America was desperate for a racist revival. Of course, Trump didn’t invent racism, any more than Hitler invented anti-Semitism, but he certainly saw that it was an issue that he could ride to power. And as for his views on Europe, it’s easy to see why Putin was willing to pull out all the stops to see that he was elected.

Yeah, nobody was having a “conversation” about immigration. The Democrats have tried for years to make the Dream Act a law; the Rethugs have consistently refused to even consider the measure. You can’t have a “conversation” when one side refuses to even discuss the issue, asshat. Tucker Carlson, yet another stupid person’s idea of a smart person.
